COOP
COOPI Cooperazione Internazionale is a secular and independent NGO, founded in Milan in 1965. It carries out development projects to contribute to the fight against poverty in particularly degraded areas and emergency programs to support people affected by natural disasters or conflicts. Currently, COOPI is present in 33 countries in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean. The main institutional donors are the European Union, UN agencies, the Italian Government, local entities and other European governments.
Description of COOPI in Venezuela
Since 2019, COOPI has established a presence in Venezuela to assist the local population after the worsening of the country’s socioeconomic crisis. As of July 2020, a regional crisis response program begins that is implemented in consortium with Venezuelan organizations for the protection of vulnerable groups. In these years COOPI has expanded its interventions and is currently executing projects with different donors in Caracas, Sucre, Delta Amacuro and Bolivar in protection (GBV, human trafficking), sexual reproductive health, WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) and food school.
Objective/job description
Within the framework of the project Multi-sector humanitarian assistance to address the urgent needs of the most vulnerable people (ECHO), in the states of Bolivar and Delta Amacuro, COOPI plans to carry out activities to improve access to water, sanitation and hygiene services in the communities where it intervenes with the project. COOPI seeks to recruit two promoters for its base in Puerto Ordaz.
The promoters will be in charge of executing the project actions at the community level, identifying the beneficiary families of the hygiene kit deliveries, carrying out the distributions, promoting good hygiene and sanitation practices, as well as guaranteeing the activities of accountability. Additionally, the promoters will support the activities planned within the framework of the project related to the rehabilitation of WASH facilities in the safe spaces of the communities (protection spaces, health center and schools).
The community promoters from Bolivar will also carry out activities in Delta Amacuro.
Areas of responsibility
Main activities:
- Support in the identification and evaluation of the greatest difficulties in accessing water, sanitation and hygiene in the different communities of the project.
- Conduct awareness workshops on water, sanitation and hygiene in selected communities.
- Conduct training in safe water treatment and storage with target groups.
- Guarantee a correct registration of the families and people who will receive the kits.
- Support logistics and lead the distribution of hygiene and dignity kits in different communities.
- Support monitoring actions at the community level to follow up on the project.
- Carry out the systematization of activities, prepare reports on project progress.
- Timely deliver what is required by the coordination, according to the established formats and requirements.
Desired profile
ESSENTIALS
- Extensive experience in social work activities and support for sectors of the most vulnerable population (women, girls, boys and adolescents).
- Studies and/or work experience in community development, water, hygiene and sanitation, health, psychosocial support, education, communication and/or related areas;
- Experience working as a promoter in emergency contexts or in humanitarian projects and/or proven experience in community work and coordination with authorities/institutions;
- Effective communication and spirit of initiative;
- Attitude and spirit of teamwork (communication and coordination);
- Motivation, honesty, pro-active and decisive attitude, common sense, discretion;
- Knowledge at an intermediate level in office automation (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.);
- Respect for humanitarian principles: humanity, neutrality, impartiality;
- Immediate availability;
- Driving license (desirable).
