The civil association DRC Venezuela (Danish Refugee Council) is one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, working in more than 40 countries to provide adequate assistance with a rights-based approach to refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons, repatriates and migrants. DRC is currently seeking a highly qualified person for Coordination work and with knowledge of humanitarian programs as Program Coordinator. This is an opportunity for people with experience in managing large humanitarian projects and coordination between organizations to support DRC’s emergency response to mixed migration flows in Venezuela.
About work
The civil association DRC Venezuela has been present in Venezuela since 2019. Interventions are focused on protection activities (including monitoring, individual protection assistance, case management, prevention and response to gender-based violence, community-based protection activities and advocacy in favor of the refugee and migrant population), food security and livelihood activities. DRC also has a climate risk prevention and management program. DRC works through direct implementation in Zulia, Apure and Sucre, and collaborates with local partners in Sucre.
The main objective of the Program Coordinator is to support the program manager in managing and developing DRC’s humanitarian program in Venezuela, including budget monitoring, and assisting in coordination with local partners. The Program Coordinator will be located at the headquarters in the DRC national office in Caracas.
General objective of the position
- Under the supervision of the program manager, the Program Coordinator will support the implementation of DRC’s humanitarian program in Venezuela, support the development of the emergency response, and coordinate with other humanitarian actors including UN agencies. , NGOs, and national authorities.
Main Responsibilities
Support for project implementation
- Supports the monitoring of activities and compliance and expected results, identifying possible gaps and proposing the necessary adjustments and modifications.
- Work closely with managers of the different bases supervising and supporting the implementation work of ongoing projects.
- Support the coordination of the national DRC program team.
- Ensure the relevance of the various activity reports and the results achieved.
- Coordinate with the MEAL support area (monitoring, evaluation, learning and accountability) to report the progress of the technical execution of the projects in charge and prepare periodic quality reports.
- Punctually participate in cluster meetings and work tables as agreed with the country coordination.
- Support the development of new humanitarian interventions including supporting the drafting of project proposals and budgets.
- Support the coordination of members of an NGO consortium (3 member organizations) of which DRC is a member for the implementation of an emergency response project.
- Support the development and update of DRC’s humanitarian response strategy.
Required experience and skills:
- Minimum 3-4 years of relevant experience in similar positions in humanitarian organizations.
- Experience writing project proposals and budgets for humanitarian donors.
- Experience in developing humanitarian emergency response strategies.
- Experience in actively and strategically participating in a humanitarian coordination group at the national level (GIFFM, Cluster, etc.).
- Programmatic knowledge of the majority of the following sectors of humanitarian intervention: Livelihoods, protection, WASH, MPCA, shelter and NFIs, CCCM.
- Extensive knowledge of office packages and technological tools.
- Willingness and ability to learn.
- Intermediate level of English. Written and spoken.

Required Education
Master’s or undergraduate degree in political science, economics, development, humanitarian assistance, or other similar fields.
