Yasmin Interactive Virtual School, a non-profit social enterprise under the Abjad Initiative for Education, is seeking passionate university students to contribute to our innovative EdTech platform. Our project focuses on empowering Arab children worldwide, supporting Syrian female IDPs and refugees, and aiding Syrian children in Internally Displaced Camps. Abjad Initiative for Education is a registered charity in Germany. We are committed to diversity and inclusivity, including people with disabilities and refugees. Arabic language skills are desirable for all roles.

Role Overview:
We are seeking a talented and dedicated Java Spring Developer to join our volunteer team. As a Java Spring Developer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining backend solutions that support our organization’s digital initiatives. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability and scalability of our web applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the development team to understand project requirements and translate them into robust and scalable backend solutions using Java Spring.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Ensure the integration of frontend elements with server-side logic.
  • Implement and maintain data storage solutions, such as databases and caching mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize code for performance.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies to continuously improve our technical stack.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in Java Spring development.
  • Familiarity with building RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Strong understanding of database systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and ORM frameworks.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Solid understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
