UNFPA is inviting talented Logistics Experts to apply for our upcoming Surge Workshop in Senegal in April 2024 . This transformative training and assessment experience is focused on honing skills in different areas of humanitarian response with special attention to infectious diseases.
Candidates who attend the workshop and pass the assessment will be added to the UNFPA Surge Response Roster used for rapid deployment of experts as part of our humanitarian response activities around the world.

Experts selected for the roster will be considered for deployments to emergencies to:
- assist the Country Office in the planning, coordination and implementation of UNFPA’s humanitarian interventions.
- coordinate logistics support for UNFPA operations and in particular ensure effective management of emergency Reproductive Health commodities and supplies at the central and peripheral levels
- Liaise with humanitarian stakeholders working in relevant sectors/Clusters, such as Health, WASH, Protection, Logistics, Camp Management, etc. to ensure inclusion of commodities specific to UNFPA’s mandate in the overall national humanitarian response plan.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Advanced university degree in logistics management or equivalent relevant professional certification in areas such as transport, distribution and supply chain management.
- 5+ years of field experience in humanitarian/emergency settings
- Managing medical supplies in emergency settings is an advantage
- Experience and knowledge with INGO and UN systems, especially UNFPA is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in stressful environments, strong leadership skills also highly desired.
- Proficiency in French is required and working knowledge of English is strongly preferred.

The experts selected to join the pool will be pre-selected for deployment in emergency situations in order to:
- assist the country office in the planning, coordination and implementation of UNFPA humanitarian interventions
- work closely with implementing partners, other agencies and field staff to coordinate logistical support to UNFPA operations and, in particular, ensure effective management of Reproductive Health (RH) commodities and supplies ) emergency at central and peripheral levels
- liaise with relevant humanitarian actors working in relevant sectors/Clusters, such as health, water, hygiene and sanitation (WASH), protection, logistics, camp management, etc. to ensure the inclusion of products specific to the UNFPA mandate in the overall national humanitarian response plan.
Qualifications and skills required
- Advanced diploma in logistics management or equivalent professional certification in areas such as transportation, distribution and supply chain management.
- More than 5 years of field experience in humanitarian or emergency situations.
- Management of medical supplies in emergency situations is an asset.
- Experience and knowledge of NGO and UN systems, particularly UNFPA, is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in stressful environments; strong leadership skills are also strongly desired.
- Fluent French and fluency in English required
