Join us in Ecuador as a pivotal leader driving the implementation of our Country Strategy, aligning Country Programs with CARE’s visionary 2030 goals and the regional strategy for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). This role will spearhead transformative change within Ecuador’s country office.
As the Country Director, you’ll hold a crucial position within CARE, providing exemplary leadership in program delivery in Ecuador. Your primary responsibility will be to optimize our influence and impact in the region by ensuring that programs not only meet the highest quality standards set by CARE but also resonate globally, maintain local leadership, and uphold gender equality. Your expertise will be pivotal in securing adequate funding for CARE’s initiatives in Ecuador by cultivating strong relationships with CARE Member Partners (CMP), external donors, and other key stakeholders. Your guidance will drive efficient operations, robust financial management of budgets, and the execution of work plans to effect positive change for prioritized impact population groups.
Leading the Country Leadership Team, you’ll serve as the face of CARE in Ecuador, influencing donors and key national stakeholders, and representing the organization in high-profile meetings and forums. The ideal candidate for the Country Director role embodies our values, feminist principles, and behaviors, championing CARE’s integrity both within and outside the organization. You’ll be instrumental in fostering innovative methodologies, promoting entrepreneurial thinking, and steering teams towards the realization of CARE’s 2030 vision. Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Lead and drive the Country Leadership Team, overseeing program quality, adherence to CARE’S standards, and global connectivity, while fostering local leadership and gender equality within initiatives.
- Resource Mobilization and Partnerships: Forge strategic alliances with CARE Member Partners, external donors, and key stakeholders to ensure adequate funding and sustainable operations while representing CARE at high-level meetings and forums.
- Representation and Advocacy: Act as the face of CARE in Ecuador, influencing donors and national stakeholders, representing the organization in crucial forums, and embodying CARE’s values and feminist principles both internally and externally.
- Innovation and Team Empowerment: Drive innovation, holistic planning, and team effectiveness, encouraging entrepreneurial thinking, and promoting CARE’s 2030 vision. Foster an environment of innovation and build strong teams, coalitions, and networks.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Experience: 6-8 years in senior management within the development field, demonstrating leadership in delivering high-quality programs, influencing strategies, and humanitarian initiatives in challenging locations within Ecuador.
- Leadership & Advocacy: Proven track record in influencing at national and international levels, with a commitment to a rights-based approach, especially in advocating for women’s rights.
- Change Management & Relationship Building: Experience in managing complex change processes and fostering relationships across diverse internal and external stakeholders in multicultural settings.
- Team Leadership: Skilled in leading and motivating diverse teams in remote locations, fostering excellent team performance aligned with CARE’s core values and policies.
- Representation: Demonstrated success in representing an organization with partners, government agencies, private sectors, media, and donors at senior levels both nationally and globally.
