Surge Capacity Roster Workshop: Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) At United Nations Population Fund

UNFPA  is inviting talented  Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Experts  to apply for our upcoming  Surge Workshop  in  Senegal  in  April 2024 . This transformative training and assessment experience is focused on honing skills in different areas of humanitarian response with special attention to infectious diseases.

Candidates who attend the workshop and pass the assessment will be added to the  UNFPA Surge Response Roster  used for rapid deployment of experts as part of our humanitarian response activities around the world.

Experts selected for the roster will be considered for deployment to emergencies to:

  • support the integration of MHPSS into Gender Based Violence in Emergencies and Sexual and Reproductive Health in Emergencies programming;
  • orient SRH and GBV colleagues and partners on MHPSS related issues;
  • support the GBV Sub-Sector in strengthening the capacity of the GBV partners, particularly the staff of GBV response service providers, in order to deliver services in compliance with IASC Guidelines for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Emergency Settings and UNFPA MHPSS draft guidance

Qualifications and Skills required:

  • Master’s degree with specialization in psychology, mental health or related area.
  • At least 5 years of specialized experience in psychosocial support interventions particularly as it relates to GBV;
  • Experience in GBV/MHPSS at an international level in a humanitarian context.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IASC Guidelines on MHPSS in Emergency Settings;
  • Demonstrated experience of training, supervision, and mentoring of non-professional counseling staff;
  • Ability to work within a team structure, maintain flexibility, and cope with a stressful workload;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within different cultural environments;
  • Proficiency in French is required and working knowledge of English is strongly preferred.

FRENCH VERSION

UNFPA  is looking for new  Experts in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MSPSS)  and invites them to send their applications for our next  Training Workshop on humanitarian emergency deployment  which will be held  in Senegal  in  April 2024 . This training and assessment experience focuses on developing skills in the different areas of humanitarian response, with particular attention to infectious diseases.

The experts selected to join the pool will be pre-selected for deployment in emergency situations in order to:

  • support the integration of MHPSS into Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) programs;
  • guide SRH and GBV colleagues and partners on issues related to MHPSS;
  • support the GBV sub-sector in building the capacity of GBV partners, particularly GBV response service provider staff, to deliver services consistent with IASC guidelines for health mental health and psychosocial support in emergencies and the UNFPA MHPSS guidance project.

  • Master’s degree with specialization in psychology, mental health or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of specialized experience in psychosocial support interventions, particularly in the area of ​​gender-based violence;
  • Experience in GBV/MSPS at international level in a humanitarian context.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IASC guidelines on MHPSS in emergency situations;
  • Proven experience training, supervising and coaching lay counseling staff;
  • Ability to work within a team, remain flexible and cope with a stressful workload;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in different cultural environments;
  • Fluent French required and proficiency in written and spoken English
