The Need

For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence by 2030, we are seeking a Senior Manager, Finance, Thailand to effectively lead and manage all finance and accounting operations for the country office, ensure compliance with IJM Global and Regional Finance policies and process, and provide strong support to the Thailand Senior Leadership Team.

This position is based in Bangkok, Thailand and reports to the Country Director, Thailand, with a matrix reporting to the Regional Manager, Finance & Accounting, Asia Pacific.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Management

  • Lead and supervise the IJM Thailand Finance team members in all aspects of their work and ensure all Thailand-based staff are equipped to follow IJM finance policies and procedures.
  • Lead, manage and collaborate effectively with non-finance staff and leaders, as well as with IJM Global and Regional APAC finance staff, to implement and manage IJM Thailand’s finance systems and processes efficiently and effectively.
  • Manage all the activities of the Finance team, including annual strategic planning and goal setting, day-to-day operations, professional development, and teambuilding activities.
  • Model core values of IJM and inspire excellence and confidence in all aspects of Finance operations.
  • Lead IJM Thailand staff through change into competency and compliance with all updated local, Regional and Global Finance protocols, policies and data systems, in coordination with the Regional and Global Finance teams.
  • Proactively and collaboratively participate on IJM Thailand’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT), to ensure effective and seamless support services to all Thailand-based IJM staff.

Strategy & Knowledge Development & Implementation

  • Ensure the effective adoption, improvement and maintenance of Workday, IJM’s newly implemented HR, finance and accounting online system.
  • Position IJM as a trusted partner and non-profit organization through sound financial management and compliance.
  • Support expansion of organizational-wide grant acquisition and readiness infrastructure, policies, and processes related to finance.
  • Collaborate with the IJM APAC Regional Manager, Finance & Accounting, to ensure IJM Thailand’s accurate financial management and reporting of institutional grants.

Policies and Procedures

  • Participate in the creation, review and improvement of local and global finance policies, controls, and processes.
  • Ensure that IJM Thailand finance policies, procedures, systems and tools are effective and efficient.
  • Update and maintain finance manuals, forms, templates, and process documentation.

Communication

  • Ensure effective communication of relevant financial information to all internal and external relevant parties.
  • Provide channels for receiving constructive feedback to improve finance policies and processes.
  • Ensure staff are regularly informed, capacitated, and updated on Finance policies and procedures.

Training and Development

  • Design and implement regular finance training sessions (for example, quarterly) to ensure employees and/or future implementing partners are effectively aware of relevant policies and processes to better ensure consistent compliance.
  • Design and introduce awareness tools and resources to help promote good financial stewardship and strong internal controls.
  • Participate in trainings provided by IJM Global and Regional experts on new policies, protocol or tools.

General Accounting & Statutory Compliance

  • Oversee and manage sound and accurate day-to-day accounting and procurement activities.
  • Manage all transactions and communications with banks and financial services providers.
  • Facilitate and follow up on all statutory audit and other assurance/compliance reviews and activities.
  • Participate in financial budget planning and analyses with active consultancy to the leadership team.
  • Complete, review and provide analysis of financial reports.
  • Ensure accurate and timely dispensation of staff payroll and reimbursement.
  • Participate in and support all grant-related accounting and reporting requirements.

General tasks

  • Both model and encourage IJM’s values and staff care practices through active participation and team leadership.
  • Be an active participant in Regional/Global finance and accounting meetings.
  • Perform other related tasks as may be assigned by the Country Director and Regional/Global finance personnel.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with CPA or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in non-profit/NGO financial management, including financial planning, reporting, compliance, and operations as well as grants management.
  • Possesses prior experience in managing a team.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Thai required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems; familiarity with Workday preferred.
  • Working knowledge on general accounting and financial reporting standards of Thailand as well as local statutory compliance requirements related to non-profit organizations.
