Main Function
The Area Based Conservation Lead plays a key management role in WWF’s effort to conserve Myanmar priority area based conservation landscapes. This exciting position is responsible for delivering goal 1 of WWF-Myanmar’s strategy: “Strengthening Health Habitats and Species: Forests, rivers and related ecosystem services in priority landscapes are secure, restored and connected, and priority species are thriving and coexisting with humans.” This includes the planning, management, financial, and administrative aspects of the area based programme, including building and maintaining critical partnerships and relations with key stakeholders.

Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in natural resource management, environmental or conservation management, bioregional planning, development studies, or relevant fields.
- Qualification and/or extensive experience in project management.
- Knowledge of the policy/institutional context related to conservation, development partners, donor institutions, other key stakeholders and the not-for-profit sector in the landscape.
- 7 years of practical experience in leading and managing programmes or projects, 2 years of which should be related to landscape management.
- Excellent understanding of development partnerships, fund-raising, donor strategies, and international relations
- Proven experience of managing programmes funded by a diversity of sources.
- Strong managerial skills including, planning, recruiting, motivating team members, delivering quality outcomes and financial management of large projects.
- Technical/professional knowledge and skills about protected area management, community management, environmental conventions and legislation.
