Brief Description
The Sub Grants Officer plays a vital role in the efficient management and coordination of grants awarded to partner organizations. This professional will be responsible for all phases of the grants life cycle, from initial evaluation and accountability, including ensuring that there is good management and transparency.
Report Structure
The Grants Officer will report directly to the Senior Civil Society Manager at the Aga Khan Foundation Mozambique and will collaborate closely with all other relevant people involved in the project.
Main responsibilities
- Participate in identifying and updating the needs and potential of the intervention area and in the construction of the intervention, adapting it to the specificities of the context and ensuring the sustainability of the actions developed;
- Work from the network of local resources, namely existing inter-institutional networks, as well as participation and decision-making forums (formal and informal), which also exist, representing AKF Mozambique and reinforcing the institutional reputation as a knowledge partner;
- Contribute to the management of local partnerships, establish and maintain working relationships with members of the local community, governmental and non-governmental entities that provide social services and/or of interest to the territory/population, projects and interventions;
- Collaborate in coordination with field and thematic teams and support areas, strategic lines, programs and ongoing projects, ensuring their adequate implementation, taking into account the specific characteristics of the context, as well as identifying opportunities for pilot projects innovators;
- Contribute to the implementation of the different development phases of each project or intervention, with a view to their respective sustainability;
- Actively participate in data collection processes – including development of appropriate tools – and evidence, in collaboration with the Senior Civil Society Manager and the Director of Monitoring, Evaluation, Results and Learning (MERL) of AKF Mozambique, the territory coordinator , with a view to creating the conditions that allow organizing, monitoring, evaluating and documenting the activities and actions implemented, in accordance with the organization’s values and guidelines and producing all necessary reports, both internally and to external donors, in accordance with the calendar and agreed models.
Specific Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of the Juntos! ensuring the operationalization of activities and their respective monitoring, in permanent coordination with the Senior Civil Society Manager of AKF Mozambique, with the AKF office in Portugal, with the AKF office in the United Kingdom and with the La Caixa Foundation team (donor );
- Promote and collaborate with organizations participating in JUNTOS! in the development and implementation of community innovation projects taking into account the characteristics, needs and resources of their contexts, also guaranteeing the correct and timely management of the grants awarded to these projects;
- Promote, coordinate and actively participate in dynamics to strengthen civil society organizations and train professionals, either through the Juntos! project or through other initiatives by AKF and its partner entities in Mozambique;
- Trigger and coordinate actions that promote self-organization and community participation and the training of civil society organizations and dynamization of local networks, particularly within the scope of the Juntos! project, as well as other AKF initiatives in Mozambique;
- Implementation of tools/methodologies to support the promotion of gender equality and equity in the different dimensions of AKF intervention, in conjunction with the Gender focal point;
- Actively contribute to the systematization of knowledge resulting from ongoing interventions and its legitimization through evaluation (e.g. operating model and its results, lessons learned, etc.) and to its transformation into tangible resources, capable of replication, adaptation and dissemination ;
- Ensure compliance with contractual compliance and applicable policies of AKF and Fundação la Caixa, including other entities that arise with an interest in supporting the TOGETHER initiative!
Requirements
Education, Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Social and Human Sciences;
- At least 3 years’ experience in grant management;
- Professional experience in similar functions in Social and Community Intervention projects;
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience in participatory methodologies in the development and implementation of projects and training/training actions;
- Fluency in Portuguese and good knowledge of English (knowledge of other languages spoken in the intervention territories is valued);
- Intercultural awareness and ability to work in plural and complex contexts, as well as creativity and ability to find solutions in a collaborative and participatory way.
