THE CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
The World Food Program (WFP) is the largest humanitarian agency fighting world hunger. WFP works towards a world where every man, woman and child has constant access to enough food to lead a healthy and active life.
Organizational context and role: The holder of this position will work under the functional supervision of the Fleet and Country Garage manager to assist in the distribution and maintenance of light vehicles, trucks and generators which are useful for the smooth running of the operations of the PAM in Cap Haitien and will also support the implementation of any activity related to the WFP truck fleet in the northern region of Haiti.
Job description :
- Maintenance and repair of light vehicles, trucks and generators for WFP and its partners.
- Be able to carry out major repairs (gearboxes, tires, engine, suspension, steering system, air conditioning, braking system and others)
- Ensure maintenance planning for all mechanical and hydraulic systems according to technical instructions for routine maintenance.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical failures
- Disassemble and assemble the defective elements according to the recommended technological and safety procedure.
- Know how to make the right decisions regarding the restoration or replacement of worn parts, and ensure their reassembly.
- Perform regular inspections of all light vehicles, trucks and generators.
- Develop the intervention plan and procedure for repairs.
- Make parts requests or recommendations for specialized work.
- Ensure cleanliness and order in the workshops and ensure the proper use of tools
- Prepare requests for parts and consumables as needed
- Physically receive parts and consumables at the store.
- Make the physical release of parts and lubricants into the store after approval from the head of the sub-office
- Regularly inform superiors of spare parts stock levels
- Carry out physical inventories of planned periodic parts
- Submit the daily garage report and service documents in time for data entry into FMS
- Maintain management documents, receipt note, store parts release slip, stock sheets, transfer sheets
- Prepare the order for spare parts in Port Au Prince
- Classify and archive all copies of parts management documents,
- Keep storage areas clean
- Take care of used parts which must be returned to Port-au-Prince at the end of each month.
- Perform any other task at the request of the supervisor
Expected results
- The work must be well planned and organized; Repair issues must be identified quickly and resolved in a timely manner
- Computer accessories and hardware as well as manuals and digital documents are used correctly
- Technical guidance provided to lower grade personnel

Experience and essential requirement
- Have at least five (5) years of progressive experience in the field of mechanics, electricity
- electronics and automotive air conditioning for heavy trucks, light vehicles as well as the repair and maintenance of generators and motorcycles
- Be able to carry out welding work
Education
Hold a BT or BTS in mechanics
Language
Fluency in French is required and intermediate knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
