About the role

Sightsavers are currently seeking 2 Programme Interns to join our Mozambique office. One Intern will work within our Trachoma Trichiasis (TT) Step 2 Project, and one will work within our Inclusive Eye Health (IEH) and Economic Empowerment (EE) Project.

The Programme Interns will support the respective projects with implementation of project activities across multiple districts in Mozambique.

The Programme Intern for TT Step 2 Project will be responsible for:

  1. Ensuring all logistics are in place for timely and efficient delivery of TT surgeries in the 19 districts endemic for TT in Mozambique.
  2. Ensuring all logistics are in place for timely and efficient delivery of Step 2 activities in 19 districts endemic for TT in Mozambique.
  3. Support the preparation and roll out of project coordination meetings.
  4. To Support Sightsavers trachoma project delivery and documentation.
  5. Support the collection and collation of data for Step 2 project.
  6. With guidance from the STEP 2 Project Officer, ensure timely and accurate submission of all district’s micro plans for 2024.
  7. Ensure routine data collection, entry, cleaning, and storage are accordingly implemented with program needs.
  8. Support the Step 2 project officer in the monitoring of case finder and outreach work.

The Programme Intern for Inclusive Eye Health and Economic Empowerment will be responsible for:

  1. Ensuring all logistics are in place for timely and efficient delivery of cataract surgeries in the eight districts of Nampula Province.
  2. Ensuring all logistics are in place for timely and efficient delivery of EE activities in Monapo Districts
  3. Support the preparation and roll out of project coordination meetings.
  4. Support the collection and collation of data for NIEH and EE projects.
  5. Support production of internal narrative reports as requested by the NIEH Project & EE Officer.
  6. With guidance from the NIEH & EE Project Officers ensure timely and accurate submission of all district’s micro plans for 2024.
  7. Support coordination with OPD under NIEH and EE projects
  8. Support other key programme management work as directed by the IEH & EE Project Officers.

This is an ideal opportunity to learn valuable experience within an INGO and within implementing and managing projects. To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A qualification in social science, or related field, or working experience.
  • Knowledge and skills in project management within a community development programme.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Written and spoken Macua, Portuguese, and English.

Desirable

  • A qualification in public health will be an added advantage, or within the final year of completion.
  • Knowledge in designing/managing health programmes at district or national levels using health systems approach will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Trachoma Trichiasis/ Inclusive Eye Health and Economic Empowerment.
