Context:
Under the overall supervision of the Director, Coordination Office for the Mediterranean and Chief of Mission for Italy and Malta, and the direct supervision of the Integration Specialist and Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the Project Management Team based in Italy with the implementation of the activities under the THAMM+ Project. The THAMM+ programme builds on and complements the regional action “Towards a Holistic Approach to Labour Migration Governance and Labour Mobility in North Africa” (THAMM) phase I and II funded by the EU Trust Fund for Africa and phase III funded by the Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation (NCIDI)-Global Europe (NDICI-GE).
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Assist with project implementation, particularly in relation to the activities part of the labour mobility schemes between Italy, Tunisia and Morocco;
- Draft or update customized information materials for labour migrants coming to Italy as part of the labour mobility scheme;
- Support the liaison with companies hosting migrant workers and the monitoring of the workers’ inclusion in the workplace and in Italy;
- Provide general counselling on national laws and administrative procedures, in particular those related to labour migration and local inclusion;
- Support the organization of technical meetings to enhance private-public cooperation for migrant workers’ inclusion;
- Support the Project Manager in maintaining regular communication with project partners, relevant stakeholders, beneficiaries;
- Contribute to reports, briefs and presentations delivery for internal and external purposes;
- Assist with administrative, financial and procurement aspects related to the project implementation, in line with IOM rules and regulation;
- Support the preparation of technical notes, information and visibility material, concept notes, talking points and other documents related to the project;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Education
- High school diploma with four years of relevant experience; or
- Bachelor’s degree in Political, Social Sciences, Development Studies, International Relations or related field with two years of experience.
Experience
- Experience in the field of migration, with a particular focus on migrants’ inclusion, access to services and labour market integration;
- Experience in liaising and cooperating with institutional and private actors at national and/or local level;
- Experience in offering direct assistance and counselling to migrant communities in Italy will be considered an asset.
Skills
- In-depth knowledge of socio-economic inclusion aspects of migration;
- Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills, in a multi-cultural setting;
- Proficient in a Microsoft Office environment and office software packages.
Languages
- Fluency in Italian and English is required (oral and written);
- Knowledge of French and Arabic are considered an asset.
