The minimum requirements include:

  • University studies in Agronomy Engineering, Forestry Engineering, Political Science, Sociology or related field. Technical Certification in Surveying, essential.
  • 3 years of experience in addressing agrarian, social and environmental issues in Rural Development Projects focused on Youth. Knowledge of agrarian policies, institutional strengthening, social audit and citizen participation.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the preparation of registration and cadastre studies and in the use of precision equipment for topographic surveys (Total Station, GPS).
  • Knowledge of the development of land use capacity studies.
  • Experience working in institutional networks leading community development processes at the municipal level.
  • Knowledge of agrarian problems in Guatemala, mainly in the Verapaces area; as well as mediation, conciliation and negotiation of land conflicts.
  • Ability to use dialogue (mediator) as a tool for conflict transformation.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of training plans aimed at organizations and community leaders.
  • Ability to systematize processes (writing reports, documents, databases, stories of interest, others).
  • Proficiency in the language of the Q’eqchi’-Spanish region; indispensable.
  • Valid license to drive a two- and four-wheel vehicle.
  • Skill and mastery of Windows and Microsoft Office packages / Google Drive / Dropbox / GIS / Autocad, others.
  • Availability to stay in Santa Catalina la Tinta , with mobilization to the Polochic region: 1) San Miguel Tucurú, Santa Catalina la Tinta and San Antonio Senahú in the Department of Alta Verapaz. 2) Panzós, Alta Verapaz and El Estor, Izabal.

Main functions include:

  • Ensure the implementation of actions contained in the proposal and in the logical framework of the project to comply with the established indicators.
  • Ensure effective coordination between partner organizations for the implementation of youth network training processes to address agrarian conflict in Polochic.
  • Carry out training processes for participants in municipal agrarian commissions and young people from communities in situations of agrarian, social and environmental conflict.
  • Guarantee the logistics and quality control of the work carried out in the field.
