Self-Care Training Facilitator- Syria At Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe

Background:
Under the umbrella of DKH’s Capacity Building Initiative Asia (CBIA) Program that aims at enhancing the capacities of DKH partners in the region, an emerging need to support the partners in training, mentoring, and coaching has risen. Complying with the Core Humanitarian Standards and its indicators, alongside the commitments listed in the Charter for Change, strengthening partners’ capacities, and forming a stronger partnership spirit in the humanitarian assistance field is of crucial value. This assignment will directly contribute to building the capacities of DKH Asia partner’s staff, by equipping them with the technical and practical knowledge to grow the organization and programs which should ultimately improve the delivery of services to the most vulnerable people in their respective countries.

Position Summary:
DKH’s Asia Regional Hub is seeking to hire a training facilitator to facilitate a 2-day workshop on how to deal with stressful jobs and ensure staff well-being especially for the front liners who are in direct contact with vulnerable populations.
The objective of the assignment is to coach GOPA-DERD’s selected staff to cope with difficult situations and preserve as good mental health as possible during their work hours and beyond.

The Facilitator’s tasks will be:
1. Review job descriptions of the workshop audience to better understand their daily encounters and how they would affect their mental health.
2. Design and create workshop material tackling various factors affecting Humanitarian Aid workers and its reflection on their daily dealings and mental health. The material should also include tricks and tweaks to assist Humanitarian Workers overcome work-related stress.
3. Facilitate a 2-day training including pre and post assessment surveys that measure the impact of the training qualitatively and quantitatively.
4. Report of the training outcomes and steps taken to achieve the objectives.

Stakeholders and Workshop Attendees:
Up to 30 selected staff from GOPA-DERD, in addition to 2 staff from DKH will also be attending the training.

Scheduling:
DKH expects to have the mission completed by Mar 10,2024.

Language:
Workshop language is Arabic. All reports are to be submitted to DKH in English.

Timeline:
8 days of effort from signing the agreement, excluding travel days.

Deliverables:

Workshop Package Material and Implementation:

A total of 2 full days of training is expected.

• The training will be delivered to a group of up to 30 participants on two consecutive days.

• Subject to agreement by DKH, the Facilitator will develop PowerPoint presentation (or any other Presentation platform) containing all the exercises and information she/he will facilitate through the 2 days.
• Handouts, if any, must be included in the Workshop Package Material.
• Pre and post survey templates.

Workshop Report

• Submit the workshop’s full narrative report on all activities commenced.
• Obtain acceptance by writing from DKH on the completion of the consultancy.

The proposal must include:
• Consultant’s motivational letter
• Consultant’s updated CV – including a concise summary of relevant competencies and previous relevant experiences.
• Technical Proposal including technical methodology (must not exceed 5 pages).
• Proposed daily rate inclusive of all taxes.
• Suggested Workshop Curriculum.

Required Competencies:
• Solid experience in training and facilitation in the same field.
• Flexibility in customizing training contents for the needs.
• Aware of humanitarian aid delivery and its challenges.
• Aware of the context in Syria.
• Ability to travel to Syria without any restrictions. Preferably residing in Syria or allowed to stay and work in Syria.
• Fluency in Arabic and English.

Budget Proposal
The proposed budget should indicate the daily rate for a maximum of 8 days of effort, distributed according to the deliverables mentioned above. Logistical arrangements for the mission must not be included in the budget proposal, as they will be reimbursed separately, if any. The daily rate must be inclusive of all taxes in compliance to the Jordanian Sales and Income Tax laws. Payment of the contract will be released in EUR or in the local currency via bank transfer according to the payment schedule to be determined in the contractual agreement within 30 days from submission of the invoice.
