Purpose of the Position:
The purpose of this position is to provide a development lead and technical coordination role for the Custom Solutions Team within UNICC’s Digital Business Solutions Section (DDD) in the Digital Delivery Division (DD).
Objectives of the Programme:
The objective of the Centre is to provide trusted ICT services and digital business solutions to its Clients and Partner Organizations.
Main duties and responsibilities:
The incumbent will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Head, Digital Business Solutions Section (DDD) within the Digital Delivery Division (DD) and in close collaboration with the Custom Solutions team. The incumbent could be requested to do any other tasks of similar level in related fields. The incumbent will act as development lead for the delivery of solutions designed and/or managed by UNICC for its partners, fulfilling the following duties and responsibilities:
- Provide relevant expertise based on know-how in requirements elicitation, analysis, and solution design and delivery options evaluation
- Under guidance, design and create application services, perform deployment and rollout activities, migrations, updates and patches, assist with the implementation of high availability, disaster recovery and operational change management procedures
- Perform regularly checks on code quality, implementing the required pull request process
- Collaborate with the unit team in setting and maintaining development standards, frameworks and process
- Review the performance and overall quality of the delivery, collaborating on solution design changes and implementation
- Apply best practices in customer service excellence when communicating with customer partners or users to ensure customer and user satisfaction
- Produce technical documentation as required
Recruitment Profile
Experience and Skills required:
Essential:
- At least ten (10) years of experience in IT, including comprehensive experience in software development. A completed university degree from an accredited institution will be counted towards minimum work experience requirements
- Excellent experience in web applications design and development using open-source technologies such as Python, NodeJS, Java, Angular, React (expertise in at least one of the mentioned backend and one frontend technology is required)
- Good experience in and knowledge of IT fundamentals and technologies pertinent to creating business solutions (software development and testing, solution architecture and security, application lifecycle management, databases, integration, infrastructure and networks).
- Good experience developing applications using containerized solutions (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Good experience with Web development protocols and standards including HTML, CSS and JS UI libraries and frameworks
- Good experience of Agile methodology and agile delivery processes
- Excellent knowledge of transactional (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and noSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB, CosmosDB)
- Ability to grasp complex concepts, logical and analytical approach to solving problems
Desirable:
- Prior knowledge of Project Management methodologies such as Agile, PRINCE2, PMI
- Prior knowledge of Architecture patterns such as Microservices, Serverless, Event-Driven
- Basic knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
Education:
Essential:
- Graduation from secondary school supplemented by training in IT
Desirable:
- Certificate in areas of Application development and design such as Domain Driven Design, Cloud (Vendor Specific) Architecture, Solution Architecture etc.
Languages:
- English: Expert knowledge is required
- French: Intermediate knowledge is desirable
- Other language: Italian and/or Spanish, Expert knowledge is desirable

Eligibility:
This position is subject to local recruitment pursuant to staff rule 4.4 of the United Nations Staff Rules. All staff in the General Service and related categories shall be recruited in the country or within commuting distance of each office, irrespective of their nationality and of the length of time they may have been in the country. Compensation:
Annual Salary Estimation (net of tax at single rate):
- Brindisi: EUR 37,580
- Valencia: EUR 50,526
