Tdh:

The Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh), headquartered in Lausanne and office in Zurich, is the largest Swiss organization for the defense of children’s rights. In 2022, we supported 2.6 million children and members of their communities around the world, focusing our efforts on maternal and child health, children and young people in situations of migration and access to justice. We trained people who in turn supported an additional 4.5 million children and community members.

Context :

The Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh) has been present in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania since 1984 and benefits from great recognition and credibility among institutional and associative partners. Tdh develops its projects around strengthening the protection system, through its Access to Justice and Migration programs and Transversal Protection expertise. The actions implemented in Mauritania by Tdh are:

  • Structural: through technical and qualitative support at the level of institutional and community protection actors, through knowledge of the system, the development of adapted training based on Standardized Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Direct: via support to beneficiaries (protective support for children and professional reintegration) and to Community Base Organizations (training, support, technical support). A privileged partnership with the Association of Women Heads of Household (AFCF), makes it possible to individually support children in need of protection. A new partnership with the Mauritanian Association for Human Rights (AMDH) supports human rights defenders (training and networking).

Main responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Regional Access to Justice Coordinator and the Head of Delegation, he/she is responsible for defining, implementing and monitoring the strategy of the A2J program in Mauritania. He/she will ensure contextualized development and management of the A2J program. He/she has major responsibility for the strategic orientations, management and results of the program.
  • Under the supervision of the Africa Portfolio and the Regional Access to Justice Coordinator, he/she is in charge of the direct implementation of the ProdHec Multi-Country Project (Mauritania, Mali, Burkina) at the regional level, by coordinating the work of project managers from the three countries so that the objectives are achieved within the deadlines set with the donor. He/she is responsible for producing annual reports and providing the necessary information to the lessor and partners.
  • He/she is responsible for the management and supervision of the Access to Justice team and compliance with Tdh HR Policies. The A2J Program team includes four collaborators under its hierarchical supervision. The number of team members placed under the responsibility of the A2J Coordinator is likely to vary.
  • He/she guarantees quality implementation of A2 projects, respecting deadlines and consistent with the standards and quality standards of the regional A2J program and within the framework of Tdh’s global quality and accountability standards.
  • He/she manages the search for funds in his/her field (identification and formulation of new projects in the field of A2J) ensuring the involvement of partners in all stages.
  • He/she advances and coordinates dialogue and networking with key stakeholders in the country. He/she ensures dynamic partnerships at strategic and operational levels (institutional partners, civil society, academics).
  • He/she is responsible for capacity building in his/her field, ensuring that Tdh’s A2J teams and our partners master the Program’s Theory of Change and its flagship approaches. He/she will also be responsible for contributing to the development of appropriate guidance for the operationalization of these approaches.
  • He/she also contributes to the production and consolidation of expertise on A2J in Mauritania. He/she collaborates with the A2J regional team and members of the Regional Hub team to ensure that projects are aligned with other sectors of intervention and that they present innovative solutions to problems identified in the field. .

Profile:

Education :

University degree in law, criminal science or political science.

A master’s degree relevant to the position will be of added value.

Experience & Skills:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a program management or similar position, ideally in Africa or MENA.
  • Proven experience in coordination, including at the international level.
  • Proven experience in issues related to justice and child protection.
  • Proven experience in institutional support and representation, including before government authorities.
  • Strong experience in developing strategies as well as local partnerships
  • Previous relevant experience and excellent human resources management and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of access to justice for children in particular and child protection in general (including gender mainstreaming standards as a minimum in the sector).

LANGUAGES:

  • Excellent French language skills.
  • Fluency in English or Spanish is an added value.

Mastery of the Microsoft Office package

Terms :

  • Expatriate contract under Swiss law,
  • Gross monthly salary from 4600 to 5000.- depending on experience x13 (+ AVS deduction for Swiss candidate).
