Position objective:
The Education officer will contribute to the implementation of project activities, in collaboration with the local educational authorities in his area of assignment, and will represent the project to local educational authorities and the humanitarian community, under the leadership of the coordinator. activities.
Main reservoirs and responsibilities:
- Carry out, in collaboration with the educational authorities in its area of assignment and under the supervision of the Field Activities Coordinator, all educational activities of the project in the targeted sites;
- Lead the identification of the project’s target schools within a framework of exchange with stakeholders and communities,
- Participate in needs assessments of target schools and other performance evaluations
- In collaboration with representatives of the Ministry of Education, facilitate the training of teachers, directors and EPST
- Ensure the organization of monitoring of school activities
- In collaboration with stakeholders, facilitate the training of protection actors
- Support data collection for updating project indicators
- Collaborate with parent committees in identifying school risks and drafting risk mitigation plans
- Maintain good collaboration with communities, authorities and teachers
- Any other task that may be assigned to him by his hierarchical supervisor in relation to the project activities
- Provide training for teachers and COPAs (Parents’ Committee) on the themes of Child Protection and Well-Being
- Ensure awareness of inclusive education, specific to gender barriers in education and awareness on the importance of quality and inclusive education
- Ensure the training of groups of children on child protection, identification of cases of protection risks and establishment of committees to monitor protection cases in schools,
Essential requirements:
Education:
- University degree or equivalent in education, psychology, pedagogy, social sciences, social work, or other relevant related disciplines;
Professional Experience:
- At least 1 year of experience working with children and young people in education and vocational training
- 1 to 2 years of experience in the continuing training of teachers and other school community structures such as COPAs;
Language:
- Mastery of French, and Tshiluba (English will be an asset);
Others :
- Knowledge of child safety and protection policies;
- Familiarity with child safeguarding principles and willingness to comply with AVSI safeguarding policies;
- Experience working with very little supervision;
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to develop relationships with local partners and other stakeholders;
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written;
- Good computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point);
