General Description of the Organization:

Orange is a non-governmental civil society organization devoted to alleviating the suffering and improving the sustainability mechanisms of the conflict-affected population. Since its establishment, Orange has partners directly with affected Syrian populations delivering programs spanning sectors, including humanitarian and development programs, in the Early Recovery and Livelihoods, Food Security and agriculture, Education and Protection, WASH, and Shelter, in addition to long-term impact interventions focusing on the economic empowerment and the local value chains improvements to enable targeted communities to improve their living practices and their sustainable mechanisms. Orange collaborates with a variety of national and international non-governmental organizations, as well as local initiatives, to adopt a community-based approach that leads to improving the response’s impact on the humanitarian crisis and provides sustainable and alternative solutions.

Job Purpose:

The Protection Officer plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals, particularly children, within our organization’s programs. This position will be responsible for implementing and overseeing general child protection and safeguarding measures. The primary objective is to provide effective protection services and support to those in need, while promoting inclusivity and diversity within orange team.

Duties, objectives, and competencies:

  • Day-to-day follow up on the protection activities in schools, including PSS and case management activities.
  • Develop and implement child protection policies and procedures in line with international standards and local regulations**.**
  • Provide direct support to the case management office, with a specific focus on case management and individualized protection assistance.
  • Conduct assessments and identify protection risks and vulnerabilities within communities, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions**.**
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including NGOs, EDs, EAs and attend the required meetings and workshops.
  • Organize and facilitate training sessions and workshops on child safeguarding and protection for staff and community members**.**
  • Advocate for the rights of vulnerable individuals, including people with disabilities and women, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are addressed**.**
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of protection cases and activities, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Report progress and activities to the line manager on weekly basis.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Human Rights, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 of proven experience in the field of general child protection, with a focus on case management and child safeguarding.
  • Full Arabic language skills, with acceptable level in English writing skills.
  • Strong understanding of child rights and protection principles, as well as relevant international standards and legal frameworks.
  • Excellente communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of people with disabilities and a commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure in challenging environments.
