The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of two years. There are good prospects for an extension. The position can also be filled with an unlimited contract duration if the employee shows an appropriate period of employment. The contract is based on a negotiable 80% to 100% basis. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany.
As CHS Accountability Advisor, you will actively contribute to advancing Welthungerhilfe’s alignment with the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) at institutional, strategic, and content level. Welthungerhilfe (WHH) is a founding member of “CHS Alliance” and has already made significant progress in consideration and accountability to various stakeholders, especially the people we work with. As a gender focal point, you will work towards mainstreaming “Gender Responsive Programming”, a priority identified by the management of Welthungerhilfe in the current WHH strategy “One Planet – Zero Hunger”.
Your responsibilities
- As CHS Accountability Advisor in Welthungerhilfe, you will be representing the organization in the CHS-Alliance and be the interface to other actors, stakeholders and networks working on the topic.
- To measure our progress and increase CHS compliance in our actions, you will coordinate Welthungerhilfe’s CHS verification as an institutional process every 2 years.
- Through your standardized involvement, Welthungerhilfe’s key policies, strategies and SOPs are CHS compliant.
- In your advisory role, you continuously enhance institutional knowledge and promote cultural change towards increased accountability across all units within Welthungerhilfe.
- You will initiate actions to continuously increase WHH’s compliance with the CHS and ensure that WHH continuously learns from it.
- As a focal point for gender-responsive programming, you will continuously contribute to the expansion of institutional knowledge and you will manage and further develop the internal community of practices for gender.
- You will create linkages to sectors WHH works in to continually increase gender responsive programming.
- You will act as a resource person on both CHS and gender, ensuring that relevant knowhow is available and easily accessible in various formats for all WHH staff and is always up to date.
Your profile
- A relevant university or polytechnic degree and several years of experience (abroad) in the field of humanitarian and development work
- Experience working with the Core Humanitarian Standard is a great asset
- Strong commitment to quality assurance and accountability towards the people Welthungerhilfe works with
- Expertise in gender mainstreaming and strong interest in promoting gender equality
- Independent, structured way of working and ability to network with others and at different levels – internally and externally – due to excellent communication skills
- Strong creativity, enjoyment of strategic thinking and the ability to convince others of what is important to you
- Innovative and motivated to try new approaches to foster collaboration & communication and develop topics within the organization further
- Excellent spoken and written English language skills; German and/or French language skills are an asset
