Vision and mission of the organization:

Sahel 21 subsidiary of Terre Sans Frontières (S21-TSF) is part of a Canadian international organization called Terre Sans Frontières created in 1981 with its headquarters in Canada. S21-TSF has been operating in Mali since 1992.

Sahel 21-TSF’s mission is to contribute to the socio-economic self-promotion and improvement of the living environment of communities through appropriate strategies to strengthen the capacities of men, women and young people. In more than 30 years, hundreds of interventions have taken place, providing considerable support to women, men and children in Mali and mainly in the regions of Koulikouro, Kidal, Narra and Ménaka through varied educational support. , health, agriculture, rural entrepreneurship, microfinance and local development.

For S21-TSF, development must be driven by communities and their decentralized authorities, allowing them to act significantly on reducing poverty and the inequalities it causes.

Context :

S21-TSF wishes to expand its activities in Mali and is looking for a director in development and public relations to ensure its development in collaboration with the general director of S21-TSF and the program manager for West Africa (in Canada).

Mandates of the candidate :

Under the supervision of the General Director of S21-TSF, the person holding the position will contribute to the development and implementation of a development plan for TSF activities in Mali.

Public relations aspect:

  • Design tools and create content aimed at increasing the visibility of the NGO;
  • Coordinate the production of content for social networks;
  • Ensure compliance with the use of the TSF brand image;
  • Provide recommendations on communication in the various projects carried out by the NGO;
  • Collaborate in the design of training on IT and communications tools;
  • Support the team in setting up document management on the SharePoint platform and the use of the Office suite.

Development component

  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of a medium and long-term development plan for TSF in Mali;
  • Carry out research for potential sources of funding for the NGO;
  • Develop a network of partners in accordance with the mission and values ​​of the NGO;
  • Collaborate in the design and presentation of various funding and grant applications;
  • Collaborate in the drafting of accountability reports required by donors;
  • Collaborate to support the participatory exercise with beneficiary communities for the development of various projects;
  • Contribute to the implementation and achievement of results of development projects;
    • At the request of general management, represent S21-TSF to partners, NGOs, municipal and administrative authorities, etc. ;
    • Support the team with all other related tasks.

Qualifications and experience required:

  • University education in a relevant field (administration, communications, social sciences or related fields).
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a development or management role in a non-profit or charitable sector.

Conditions of employment:

  • The working hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Some events and meetings could take place outside of usual hours (meeting with colleagues from different time zones);
  • 40 hours/week;
  • Possibility of working some evenings and weekends if necessary;
  • The main place of work is located in Bamako;
  • Travel within Mali. Possibility of travel to West Africa and Canada.
