The Opportunity – Driver (Holding Jerusalem ID)

Post location: Country Office – Ramallah

Contract Duration and Level of Effort: 1 year (with possibility for extension)

ROLE PURPOSE:

To provide driving services and undertake general administrative functions for the Country Office.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Fleet Assistant

Country Dimensions:oPt CO is a high complexity country, multi-member interest, with an annual budget of around $40+m, and 100+ staff. Currently the program is experiencing a growth in funding and complexity due to the war in Gaza.The CO works in the West Bank Field Office and Gaza Area Office, in addition to the main country office in Ramallah.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Transport SCI staff to desired locations within Jerusalem, West Bank, and Israel, including various Gaza checkpoint (when applicable) and Ben Gurion Airport.
  • Ensure that all vehicles are properly maintained and refueled.
  • Maintain logbooks and other paperwork related to the use of vehicles and ensure that log sheets are registered after each trip.
  • Ensure vehicles are clean (inside and outside) and equipped with required equipment and security assets (e.g. bottles of water, tool kit, medical box, telephone charger, maps, documentation).
  • Follow procedures at checkpoints and when travelling in convoy.
  • Observe safe driving practices and respect speed limits as required within the laws of Palestine and Israel.
  • Report any required maintenance to the supervisor, who will organize and advise on maintenance procedures.
  • Carry out administrative or basic maintenance tasks within the office as requested.
  • Assist in vehicle licensing and registration processes as needed.
  • Coordinate with security personnel to ensure the safety of staff during travel.
  • Ensure proper use of the vehicle logbook and fuel consumption records.
  • Monitor and report any irregularities in vehicle performance.
  • Assist in the transportation of goods and equipment as required.
  • Perform any other duties requested by the supervisor.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in psychological, medical or social work, social sciences or other relevant field.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • Holding of Jerusalem ID and valid clean driving license.
  • Minimum of five years of similar previous experience.
  • Written and verbal fluency in English.
  • Hebrew language is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of roads and places within WB & Jerusalem.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
  • Familiarity with GPS devices and navigation tools.
  • Ability to manage a complex and diverse workload and to work to tight deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies.
  • Understanding of Save the Children’s vision and mission and a commitment to its objectives.

  • Ready to work to respond to any natural disaster or emergency situation anywhere in oPt.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Experience in security protocols and procedures.

  • Experience working with INGOs or international organizations is a plus.
