Resident Engineer At CTG (Committed To Good)

Overview of position

  • Our client in in Yemen is implementing various construction projects under different programs in ranging from large scale new construction projects to rehabilitation of existing facilities in the country.
  • The Yemen food & security response & resilience project funded by the World Bank encompasses the construction of new facilities & rehabilitation of existing buildings of partners of our client in Yemen.
  • These projects aim at enhancing the national capacity of the country by providing a state of the art projects that include all kinds of modern technology & renewable energies to achieve sustainable infrastructure that eventually elevate the well being of the Yemeni people.

Role objectives

Under the overall supervision of the Construction Engineer the selected candidate is expected to:

  • Supervise the construction of rehabilitation or new construction site(s).
  • Liaise with local authorities to ensure that the project site is handed over to the contractor.
  • Coordinate with the local authorities to ensure uninterrupted execution of the project.
  • Process the inspection requests & maintain records of their status.
  • Maintain accurate records & reports related to the project.
  • Act as point of contact & coordinate directly with the contractor & negotiate the implementation plan.
  • Monitor progress against the accepted construction schedule & review the contractor’s progress reports.
  • Assess the progress & inform the Construction Engineer in case of delay.
  • Oversee field site activities & provide technical advice on construction & design.
  • Discuss deviations from specified construction materials & procedures with the Construction Engineer.
  • Review the contractor’s payment application, check the quantities & sign the payment applications.
  • Prepare daily, weekly & monthly & project closure reports.
  • Assess the standards of delivered materials in terms of quantity & quality as per the specifications.
  • Ensure the application of Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards in the construction site.
  • Liaise with the Environmental & Social Safeguard (ESS) team, ensuring that the ESMP plans are being implemented on the project.
  • Perform any other tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Project reporting

This role works under the overall supervision of the Construction Engineer.

Key competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or architectural engineering with a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience is required.
  • Experience in supervising rehabilitation & construction projects is required.
  • Strong computer skills & advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
  • Knowledge of Auto CAD software is required.
  • Knowledge of 3D software like Sketchup, Archicad, 3D Max, Revit is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of English language is a must.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal & teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision.

This role has no team management responsibility.
