MIDWIFE in Ile de France M/F At Doctors Without Borders

Médecins Sans Frontières, an international humanitarian medical association created in 1971, provides
medical assistance to populations whose lives are threatened: mainly in the event of armed conflicts, but also epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters or even exclusion from care. The French section is present in around thirty countries.

As part of a replacement and additional activity, we are looking for a. e MIDWIFE in Ile de France M/F.

Context:
Since 2017 Médecins Sans Frontières has managed a project in Ile-de-France. This project is composed of:
– A day reception in Pantin (93) for Unaccompanied Minors, which provides support through three areas
of activity: socio-legal, somatic health and mental health;
– An accommodation system, called “Passerelle” located in Sevran (93);
– A Mobile Clinic operating in Ile de France.
Main Mission:
Provide sexual and reproductive health care to program beneficiaries, particularly young
adolescent girls, in accordance with medical protocols. Offer monitoring and appropriate support
to ensure the quality and continuity of care. Refer, if necessary, to common law structures for
prevention and/or medical treatment.
Responsibilities:
General (young adolescent girls and boys):
• Ensure the implementation and continuity of sexual and reproductive health care in accordance with
quality standards, and consolidate the implementation of standardized protocols:
• Family planning, abortion, care obstetrics, management of victims of sexual violence,
genital mutilation, reproductive tract infections, and others as needed.
• Work in close collaboration with identified community and/or state health structures.
• Guarantee a transcultural approach in the care provided and prevention activities. Raise awareness
of this approach among health partners as needed.
• Check that beneficiaries are correctly informed about their state of health, procedures and treatments to
follow, and receive the necessary key documents.
• Collaborate with other members of the team (nurses, lawyers, mediators, doctors) to ensure
multidisciplinary and quality care.
• Create health promotion tools and more specifically sexual health, adapted separately
for young girls and young boys.
• Develop and organize health education and sexual health workshops, by developing
individual and group sessions, adapted separately for young girls and young boys.
• Provide information on the operation of common rights systems for access to health.
• Collaborate with key people in the team for the appropriate management of cases of sexual violence.
• Know, promote, implement and follow
universal hygiene standards/precautions at all times.
• Ensure that patients’ rights to privacy and confidentiality are respected, while ensuring the
transfer of relevant information to the team.
• Discuss any specific problem with his/her manager, if applicable the project coordinator, and with the multidisciplinary team (victims of violence, sexual violence).
• Update and maintain the map of relevant actors and partners for the care of beneficiaries.
• As necessary, monitor the use and storage of medications, facilities and medical equipment necessary for its activity, in order to ensure quality care. Care of young girls:
• Guide young girls through a sexual health pathway of prevention and medical care under common law and ensure follow-up: making appointments, checking understanding of medical subjects and taking of treatments, communication with staff of care services in hospitals, gynecologists’ offices, CMS, CeGIDD, etc.
• Support pregnancy follow-ups in hospitals, offer support and support for medical abortion in accordance with the MSF protocols. Provide relay as needed.
• Support the medical care of victims of sexual violence in hospitals (prevention of STIs, HIV, Hepatitis B and others, gynecological examination and care, emergency contraception, etc.) and provide relay as needed. Care of young boys:
• Organize their care throughout their intra- and extra-hospital care journey and ensure follow-up (making appointments, checking understanding of treatment, communication with service staff care in hospitals, CMS, etc.)
• Support the medical care of victims of sexual violence in hospitals (STI prevention, HIV, Hepatitis B, other examinations and care) and provide relay as needed. Reporting:
• Carry out all administrative tasks related to the clinical follow-ups of young people.
• Write the documents necessary for liaison with third parties while respecting medical confidentiality (certificates, reports, reports, etc.).
• Complete the database in its entirety (with regard to medical data).
• Compile medical data entered during consultations and participate in the analysis and preparation of the monthly medical report. Advocacy:
• Report the obstacles to care encountered, and possible problems not yet listed.
• Take part in surveys through questionnaires to be submitted to young people, at the request of the mission’s Advocacy Manager.

Profile sought Training:
Midwifery diploma recognized as essential.

Experience:
– Two years in a similar medical position, experience required with MSF or other NGOs.
– Experience in the field of health promotion and education.
– Knowledge of the French health system, child protection, foreigners’ rights, reception and care systems for unaccompanied minors.
– Experience working with an audience of adolescents or young girls with specific issues linked to a complex migratory journey (trafficking, trafficking, prostitution, sexual violence, etc.) required.

Status:
Fixed-term contract (CDD) 12 months, renewable.
Conditions: €3,039.02 gross monthly over 13 months.
22 days of RTT per year. Supplementary health care 100% covered by Médecins Sans Frontières. Restaurant vouchers with a face value of €11.00 (60% covered by MSF). 50% coverage of public transport fare or equivalent.
