Médecins Sans Frontières, an international humanitarian medical association created in 1971, provides medical assistance to populations whose lives are threatened: mainly in the event of armed conflicts, but also epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters or even exclusion from care. The French section is present in around thirty countries.
As part of a replacement, we are looking for a NURSE M/F – CALAIS – Mission France.
Context :
The MSF France Mission provides assistance to migrants in situations of great social, medical and/or psychological vulnerability on French territory and carries out advocacy actions to facilitate their access to common law.
The project in Calais provides medico-social and psychological support to vulnerable people stuck at the border through external activities (maraudes, mobile clinics and support for partner associations) but also individual monitoring. The second part of the project consists of the management of a day reception dedicated to the MNA public. The project also aims to enrich with concrete cases a national advocacy activity targeting migration policies harmful to exiles.
Goals :
Within a multidisciplinary team, and under the responsibility of the project coordinator, your main objectives will be to provide somatic care to the beneficiaries of the various project activities (day reception, marauding, external activities), to coordinate efforts volunteer medical staff committed to the association, to participate in health coordination meetings of the various stakeholders in Calaisis and to ensure reporting of the project’s medical activities.
Main responsibilities:
Perform functions associated with program nursing:
- Assess the health status and identify the health needs of project beneficiaries.
- Make a nursing diagnosis, implement appropriate actions.
- Ensure the proper referral of patients to accessible and appropriate care structures (PASS, CMP, dental PASS consultations, etc.), ensuring that the health and social network is developed with these institutions and partners.
- Organize the care of beneficiaries throughout their care journey (making external appointments, good understanding of treatment, follow-up consultation with other services).
Coordinate the efforts of the project’s medical volunteers:
- Identify volunteers ready to commit occasionally and voluntarily to participate in the association’s external activities and help with their recruitment.
- Set up schedules and organize attendance times for volunteer staff.
- Ensure the availability of medical equipment and consumables made available to teams during external activities.
Participate in the multidisciplinary care of the patients encountered:
- Work with other members of the team to ensure overall care and report sensitive information concerning patients (victims of violence, torture, specific guidance for vulnerable people)
- Develop and collectively organize a health education dynamic by developing individual and collective sessions, and provide information on the operation of common rights systems for access to health
- Compile medical data entered during consultations in our database and participate in the preparation of the monthly medical report.
Participation in health coordination and advocacy activities:
- Document issues not yet listed in order to improve the quality of medical care and guidance (in connection with the health advocacy mission of the France mission).
- Participate in the coordination of the care efforts of institutional and associative actors in the North Coast region.
- Improve communication and referral schemes for beneficiaries with public health structures
Required profile
Education : Recognized nursing degree/diploma essential
Knowledge of the French health system, child protection, foreigners’ rights, reception and care systems for unaccompanied minors.
Advanced mental health practice desirable.
- Experience :
Minimum two years in a similar paramedical position, experience with MSF or other NGOs desirable.
Associative experience with vulnerable populations desirable (maraudes, Samu Social, etc.).
Professional experience in a psychiatric service desirable.
Languages : French essential, knowledge of other languages appreciated: English, Arabic, Pashto, Dari, Farsi.

Status : Fixed-term contract of 12 months, renewable.
Conditions: €2,894 gross monthly over 13 months. 22 RTT days per year. Supplementary health care 100% covered by MSF. Restaurant vouchers with a face value of €11 (60% covered by MSF).
