12 months Fixed Term and Subject to Funding

The starting salary package for this position is £47,860 GBP / approx. $60,819 USD including all allowances.

About MAG

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

About the role

The Roving Project Manager (PM) will be responsible for providing senior level support to the Regional Programmes Manager (RPM) in the effective integration of strategic, programmatic and operational management and the development of new business. The PM will be responsible for the representation of MAG at country level meetings across wide range of stakeholders and will develop effective relationships and networks with stakeholders including national and local authorities, donors, UN agencies, national partners, NGO forums, the wider NGO, community and commercial operators in the region. They will also support the RPM in identifying and pursuing opportunities to expand MAG programme activities in new locations within the countries and be responsible for national partner project management and implementation, and external programme communications when delegated. The role will undertake regular travel within the Gulf of Guinea region, and can primarily be based in either Ghana or Ivory Coast.

About you

You will have relevant experience of working on development/humanitarian projects at project management level, preferably in a conflict or post-conflict environment. You will have extensive experience of developing, supporting and managing projects including implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation and contract compliance. You will have proven expertise in finance, logistics & procurement, human resources management, and experience of having developed successful relationships and negotiated with donors, government bodies, other NGOs and local partners. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels internally and externally and to support and manage people will be key to the role.

Fluency in French and English is required.

About the Gulf of Guinea programme

Since 2020, MAG projects aim to enhance regional security by reducing at-risk, illicitly proliferated, or indiscriminately used of arms. In collaborating with ECOWAS Commission, this is achieved by strengthening the organisational and operational capacities of National Commission on SALW and national security sector institutions in the safe Management and Destruction of Weapons and Ammunition in those coastal countries like Benin, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Togo.
