Overview
As the Infrastructure Technical Advisor, you will be a cornerstone of the Administration and Asset Management Unit within the Vanuatu Ministry of Education and Training. This role offers the unique opportunity to shape educational infrastructure across Vanuatu, enhancing our ongoing efforts in disaster recovery and sustainable development. This position is recruited by Tetra Tech.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight and technical advice to ensure high-standard management and execution of education infrastructure projects.
- Ensure that all project works meet design requirements and delivered on time.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders including DFAT, local authorities, and construction firms to foster effective partnerships.
- Drive the preparation and implementation of a Five-Year Capital Works Implementation Plan for Primary School Infrastructure.
- Develop training programs and mentorship initiatives to build local capacities in project management and technical competencies.
- Lead efforts in enhancing asset management systems to ensure sustainable operations and maintenance of educational facilities.
Selection criteria
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction, or related field. Extensive specific experience in lieu of a university degree is also acceptable.
- 10+ years of experience in project management, particularly in public/private infrastructure projects.
- Experience in the design, procurement, and construction of disaster-resilient facilities, preferably within the education sector.
- Excellent communication and writing skills (oral and written) and fluent in English.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage complex projects and multi-stakeholder environments.
