Infectious Disease Doctor, Global Fund GC7 Grant At World Vision

As part of the fight against HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria in the Central African Republic, WVI has been selected as a Principal Recipient of the Global Fund GC7 grant for the period from 2024 to 2026.

As part of the health system strengthening component of the grant, specifically in the area of human resources, WVI is recruiting 8 specialized medical doctors on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Population. These specialists will be assigned to specific hospitals in country to fill current gaps, ensure the transfer of skills and build the capacities of students of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Bangui.

Skills required:

  • Doctor of Medicine degree with specialization in infectious diseases.
  • Registration with the Order of Physicians and good knowledge of the regulations and medical standards in force (can be done locally).
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in infectious diseases, preferably in a university hospital setting.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proven teaching skills and interest in medical education.

Objective of the position:

The infectious disease doctor will be responsible for the management and treatment of patients with infectious diseases within the University Hospital Center (CHU). This role also entails teaching and research responsibilities.

Main responsibilities:

Patient Care:

  • Diagnose and treat patients with infectious diseases, using medical best practices and established protocols.
  • Collaborate with other specialists and medical team members to ensure integrated patient management.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary consultations for complex cases.

Teaching:

  • Train and mentor medical residents, interns, and other medical staff in training in the field of infectious diseases.
  • Organize educational sessions and conferences for medical staff and medical students on recent developments and best practices in infectious diseases.

Research:

  • Conduct clinical and translational research in the field of infectious diseases.
  • Participate in clinical studies, write scientific papers, and present results at national and international medical conferences.

Interdisciplinary collaboration:

  • Work closely with other departments and services to develop infection management protocols and improve clinical practices.
  • They must also be able to work in a team and adapt to an ever-changing hospital environment.
