Acted Chad

Acted has been operating in Chad since November 2004 and in Lac since 2011, where it carries out emergency and resilience interventions with refugee, displaced, returnee and vulnerable host populations.

Acted Chad has more than 130 employees and runs its operations from its national coordination base in N’Djamena.

With a regional coordination base in Bol and a sub-base in Daboua, Acted’s programs are currently taking place in the departments of Mamdi, Fouli and Kaya, in the Lake Chad Province. Acted’s strategy combines an emergency response within the Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) consortium through food assistance (food/cash and non-food distribution programs, nutrition) and shelter; and support for early recovery through programs to combat malnutrition and multi-sectoral approaches in Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH), Emergency Education (EiE), Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and strengthening livelihoods.

Main role and responsibilities

The Country Manager, Surveys, Monitoring, Control and Evaluation is responsible for developing and implementing an appropriate and sustainable surveys, monitoring, control and evaluation system in line with the MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning) procedures of Acted’s global strategy and ensures that Acted projects and programmes are carried out as planned.

Qualifications and skills required

  • Higher Diploma in Political Science, International Relations, International Development, Economics or equivalent (anthropology, sociology, statistics);
  • At least 2 to 5 years of experience in monitoring and evaluating projects in humanitarian and/or development;
  • Experience in participatory evaluations and project cycle management;
  • Excellent level of communication, both written and oral, in French and English;
  • Good organizational and communication skills with international and national staff and rural communities;
  • Ability to coordinate and manage a team;
  • Teamwork, ability to create team spirit and develop skills;
  • Flexibility, adaptability, organizational skills, initiative.

Terms

  • Salary defined by the Acted salary scale according to the level of education, expertise, security level and level of experience: between €2,900 and €3,100 net monthly (before income tax)
  • Monthly living expenses allowance $300
  • Accommodation in guesthouse and food provided by Acted
  • Social security, mutual insurance (MSH) and repatriation assistance (SOS International) covered by Acted
  • Transportation to the mission and return ticket fully covered every 6 months (to the address specified on the employment contract)
  • Visa fees covered by Acted
  • R&R every 3 months (airfare covered up to $500 + additional $200 allowance)
  • A week of preparation for departure including 4 days of immersion safety training
  • Possibility of having a 30-minute call with a tax consultant
  • Psychological support (appointment with a professional)
