SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association that, for over 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs: drinking, eating, and shelter. Particularly committed to combating diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and the promotion of hygiene, but also in the essential field of food security and livelihoods. Present in over twenty countries, SI teams – 2,000 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, a few volunteers, etc. – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.

JOB DESCRIPTION E

Main missions of the internship:

  • Assist the Advocacy Officer in the implementation of advocacy activities, e.g.: development of arguments, creation of advocacy tools, political analysis, writing of position notes.
  • Participate in inter-NGO coordination meetings at French, European and international levels.
  • Collaborate on qualitative and quantitative research work based on data generated by programs and field teams, interviews, and literature reviews.
  • Provide methodological support to country offices.
  • Participate in discussions on the new 2026-2031 strategy.
  • Contribute to the synthesis and presentation of results during the activity review.
  • Depending on the needs expressed by the e-advocacy, it would be possible to be assigned for a short period to one of the geographic desks or to another department in order to discover how other humanitarian professions work.

Main objectives of the internship:

  • Produce advocacy materials and contribute to dissemination strategies;
  • With the advocacy referent, represent Solidarités International in external meetings and share advocacy messages and positioning;
  • Coordinate advocacy activities with other headquarters departments and field teams;
  • Contribute to strengthening strategic advocacy axes.

Main tasks :

  • Collect and analyze data to produce arguments;
  • Draft advocacy documents in French and English;
  • Organize and participate in internal and external meetings;
  • Write minutes of meetings or webinars;
  • Be a force for initiative on activity proposals;
  • Ensure humanitarian and geopolitical monitoring and follow-up of current events in countries and the humanitarian ecosystem;
  • Maintain the list of activities and report on results during reporting exercises;
  • Provide translation of various documents into English and French.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Higher education (bac +5 level) preferably focused on humanitarian work, political science, law or international relations;
  • Real interest and motivation for non-profit and humanitarian work – Willingness to go into the field in the short term;
  • Adherence to humanitarian principles;
  • Excellent writing, summarizing and spelling skills in French and English;
  • Critical and analytical mind, rigor;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Computers: Windows (Word, Excel, power point); Internet and e-mail (Outlook);
  • Fluent English reading, writing and speaking.

IF YOU WILL OFFER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS

  • Internship based at the SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL headquarters in Clichy (92), Mairie de Clichy metro station
  • Intern with mandatory internship agreement
  • Compensation: 4.90 euros/hour
  • The gratuity is calculated in proportion to the actual hours of presence during the month. (On average 1 month = 154 hours, or 22 days of 7 hours/day)
  • Public transport covered 50% by SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL
  • Meal vouchers at €8.90/day of actual training, with 60% participation from SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL

Contributions of the internship:

  • Gain initial advocacy experience and contribute to all stages of an advocacy strategy;
  • Discover how an NGO headquarters works and the relationships between the headquarters and the field;
  • Discover the different professions of Solidarités International at headquarters and in the field;
  • Understand the humanitarian and geopolitical issues of the countries of intervention;
  • Understanding the relationships between different humanitarian actors;
  • Discover the strategic planning process of an NGO and the development of the strategy;
  • Deepen technical knowledge related to the sectors of intervention of Solidarités International;
  • Develop a professional network.
