Nurse (M/F) Ile De France Project At Doctors Without Borders

Médecins Sans Frontières, an international humanitarian medical association created in 1971, provides medical assistance to populations whose lives are threatened: mainly in the event of armed conflicts, but also epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters or exclusion from care. The French section is present in around thirty countries.

As part of a replacement, we are looking for a: NURSE (M/F) ILE DE FRANCE Project

Context :

MSF has three areas of activity in its Ile de France project:

  • A day center for unaccompanied minors (MNA): access to legal and social support, access to somatic and mental health care, referrals to common law), located in Pantin (93);
  • An accommodation facility for boys and girls, with educational support, located in Sevran (93);
  • A Mobile Clinic made up of a multidisciplinary team (medical-social).

Job Objectives:

Conduct an assessment of the health status of unaccompanied minors (boys and girls) in the program, offer them nursing follow-up and support to ensure the quality and continuity of care. Refer to common law structures for preventive measures and/or medical care.

Main responsibilities:

Youth care

  • Assess the health status and identify the health needs of beneficiaries seen in day care.
  • Participate in the decision to include the most vulnerable young people in enhanced monitoring by the Pantin multidisciplinary team.
  • Make a nursing diagnosis and implement appropriate actions
  • Organize the care of unaccompanied minors throughout their intra- and extra-hospital care pathway and ensure follow-up (making appointments, checking understanding of treatment, communication with staff of care services in hospitals, CMS, etc.)
  • Work closely with identified health structures (referencing, health coverage, etc.)
  • Work with the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care (psychologist, social worker, cultural mediator and lawyer)
  • Discuss any specific problems with the head of the somatic unit and the multidisciplinary team (victims of violence, victims of torture, specific orientation of young girls, etc.)
  • Develop and organize a dynamic of health education by developing individual and group sessions, informing on the functioning of common rights systems for access to health
  • Know, promote, implement and follow universal hygiene standards/precautions at all times.

Reporting

  • Carry out administrative procedures and documents (completing the database and medical tools, e.g. monitoring complex cases)
  • Compile medical data entered during consultations and participate in the development of the monthly medical Sitrep

    Communication & Advocacy

  • Participate in the project’s testimony and communication activities.
  • Report problematic situations and cases by informing your superior before taking any decision outside the previously established framework
  • Documenting issues not yet listed in order to improve the quality of medical care and guidance (part of health advocacy)

Multidisciplinary

  • Participate in institutional or inter-association meetings relating to the medical/paramedical care of unaccompanied minors
  • Identify health facilities that can accommodate unaccompanied minors
  • Participate in various team meetings

Required profile

Education : Recognized Nursing Diploma essential

Knowledge of the French health system, child protection, foreigners’ rights, reception and care systems for unaccompanied minors.

Experience :

Minimum two years in a similar paramedical position, experience with MSF or other NGOs desirable.

How to apply

Status : Fixed-term contract (CDD) 5 months.

Terms :

€2,894.30 gross monthly over 13 months. 22 days of RTT per year. Health insurance 100% covered by Médecins Sans Frontières. Meal vouchers with a face value of €11.00 (60% covered by MSF). 50% coverage of public transport tickets or equivalent.
