Title: Social Media and Influencing Assistant
Reports To: Policy and Communication Senior Officer
BACKGROUND
The Peace Track Initiative is a feminist non-profit incorporation working to localize and feminize the peace process through ensuring inclusive peace, promoting protection of women, and feminist knowledge leadership. The Peace Track Initiative was registered in Canada in 2017. The Peace Track Initiative works in the Middle East and North Africa with a specific focus on Yemen. The PTI also acts as the Technical Secretariat for the Women Solidarity Network which has more than 300 women members. The Social Media and Influencing Officer will be responsible for creating, executing and managing PTI’s and WSN’s social media and influencing strategy, ensuring that the online presence is strong and engaging, and that it influences its target audience. The Officer will work closely with the PTI team, partners, and stakeholders to strengthen their capacity in social media and influencing and will monitor and document the successes and impact.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in Social Media Strategy Development: Help develop social media strategies for PTI and WSN that align with organizational goals and objectives.
- Content Management: Support the curation and management of content for PTI’s and WSN’s social media platforms in both English and Arabic.
- Content Creation: Assist in creating content that incorporates gender perspectives and conflict sensitivity, ensuring it promotes inclusivity and diverse perspectives.
- Social Media Campaign Support: Help design and implement engaging social media campaigns to promote PTI’s and WSN’s messages and advocacy.
- Monitor Metrics: Assist in monitoring and analyzing social media metrics to evaluate campaign effectiveness and suggest improvements.
- Influencer and Stakeholder Relations: Support the development and maintenance of relationships with key influencers and stakeholders to amplify PTI’s messages.
- Event Coordination: Coordinate with team members to share posts about events they attend, ensuring consistent and relevant messaging across social media platforms.
- Highlight Team Achievements: Work with various teams to highlight their achievements and contributions on social media.
- Staff Support: Provide basic guidance and support to staff in developing social media and influencing materials.
- Content Database Maintenance: Help develop and maintain a database of success stories and relevant content for use in social media campaigns and reports.
- Reporting: Assist in monitoring and documenting PTI’s successes and impact through regular reporting on social media activities.
- Stay Updated: Keep abreast of trends and best practices in social media and influencing, and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Engagement Documentation: Document positive and negative engagements with PTI and WSN from key stakeholders and influencers online.
- Visual Content Creation: Support the team in creating visually appealing content such as posters, certificates, and banners that adhere to PTI’s visual identity guidelines.
- Fundraising Support: Contribute ideas related to social media and influencing for fundraising projects.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Basic experience in social media management and influencing.
- Some experience in supporting the creation and execution of social media campaigns.
- Basic knowledge of social media monitoring and analysis tools.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills in both Arabic and English.
- Ability to assist in building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and partners.
- Strong writing skills in Arabic and English.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with guidance.
- Basic graphic design skills and familiarity with Canva.
- Familiarity with basic video production, editing, and scripting is preferred.
- Experience or ability to adapt to remote work and virtual platform communication.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changing trends and algorithms in social media platforms.
Duration of the mission:
This is a 6-month volunteer position,
3 working days per week, 7 Hours per day (core hours between 2:00 – 6:00 pm EST time), Monday – Friday
