The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent humanitarian organization. Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, the ICRC is mandated to provide protection and assistance to victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence, provides humanitarian aid in emergencies and works to promote respect for international humanitarian law and its integration into national legislation. As part of the development of its activities in Haiti, the ICRC is recruiting one (1) candidate for the position below:

But
the Psychologist contributes to the implementation of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (SMAPS) programs defined at local and national levels. He/she provides direct support to victims of armed conflicts and/or other situations of violence and/or trains, supervises and coaches others to do so.

Main responsibilities
▪ Develops, implements and supports the activities of the ICRC SMAPS programmes implemented in Haiti (Help the Helpers) in the defined priority areas.
▪ Contributes to the diagnostics of SMAPS needs and resources to understand the needs of the target population and determine the relevance of the possible response by following the institutional technical guides, in close collaboration with his/her functional superior.
▪ Directly implements SMAPS activities through group and/or individual psychological support sessions (when necessary) to the direct beneficiaries of the programmes.
▪ Organizes the referral of beneficiaries for individual specialized support (psychological and/or psychiatric), ensuring follow-up and monitoring of cases.
▪ Develops content (in collaboration with the SMAPS team) and implements activities related to the information and training of community workers, health personnel, Red Cross volunteers and/or other SMAPS actors on topics related to ICRC SMAPS programmes. ▪
In compliance with ICRC standards, uses monitoring and evaluation tools and ensures periodic data collection in accordance with internal reporting needs.
▪ Records and processes information (general and specific) in a correct and confidential manner.
▪ Works in close multidisciplinary collaboration with other ICRC departments (health, protection, communication, prevention, cooperation, etc.) with the aim of providing an integrated and coordinated response according to the needs identified.
▪ Maintains regular communication with the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Delegate and/or the Health Programme Manager, providing data and programme updates.
▪ Constantly assesses the evolving context and potential SMAPS needs and participates in the development, implementation and reporting of potential new SMAPS programs.
▪ Acts as the French/Creole interpreter for the MHPSS delegate during meetings, trainings, interventions, etc., as needed.

Knowledge, experience and minimum criteria required:
▪ Graduate in Clinical Psychology or with a specialization in clinical.
▪ Specialization or postgraduate in clinical psychology or related field (desirable).
▪ Experience in psychological support to populations affected by violence, at least 2 years.
▪ Experience in psychosocial interventions at the community level.
▪ Experience in implementing Mental Health and Psychosocial Support programs and/or projects.
▪ Experience in an international organization, particularly in the Red Cross Movement, an asset appreciated.
▪ Excellent command of spoken and written French; fluent Creole; intermediate knowledge of English;
▪ Excellent command of IT tools (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.).
▪ Availability and flexibility for frequent field missions;
▪ Ability to work under pressure, taking initiatives while respecting the procedures in force and in regular communication with his hierarchy;
▪ Ability to work in a multicultural team;
▪ Ability to adapt and embrace rapid changes while managing a large volume of work;
▪ Sense of confidentiality and discretion;
▪ Methodical, precise and rigorous;
▪ Initiative and organizational skills.
