Overview of position

  • Under the general supervision of the Migrant Resource Center Manager, and the direct and technical supervision of the physicians, the candidate will be responsible for providing medical assistance in IOM migrant reception centers.

Role objectives

Under the technical supervision of doctors, and under the general supervision of center managers,

  • Provide medical consultation activities and referrals for beneficiaries to centers and locations indicated as needed;
  • Develop the department’s work schedule in conjunction with doctors and ensure follow-up;
  • Develop and ensure the implementation of the daily and weekly programming of the service’s activities;
  • Contribute to creating an environment favorable to the medical care of patients;
  • Participate in the organization of the Fitness To Travel (FTT) assessment for beneficiaries
  • Ensure the coordination and monitoring of maintenance and equipment management activities
  • Ensure that the stock of medicines is kept up to date;
  • Identify a problem situation and make solution proposals to your superiors
  • Participate in search and rescue missions for migrants in distress alongside other IOM units with a view to providing emergency medical assistance;
  • Organize medical escorts for beneficiaries whose health conditions require it;
  • Ensure the collection and recording of data relating to medical activities carried out, in accordance with the procedures in place;
  • Participate in reporting medical activities and prevention/awareness activities carried out in the centers, by writing reports and maintaining medical databases, in coordination with the information management unit;
  • Participate in internal IOM coordination meetings
  • Facilitate collaboration with health structures, partners and health authorities as needed;
  • Participate, under delegation from the medical coordinator, in meetings of health stakeholders at the local level, and produce a report;
  • Facilitate the administrative monitoring of the service;
  • Prepare all administrative documents, reports among others to submit on time to supervisors;
  • Any other necessary task that may be assigned to him

Project reporting

  • This role reports to the line manager

Key skills

  • Master’s degree in business administration, finance, management, accounting or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or
  • University degree in the above fields with seven years of relevant professional experience.
  • Professional certification as a Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) will be a distinct advantage.
  • Holder of a diploma, Higher Technician in Nursing, knowledge of General Medicine
  • At least (5) three years of experience in the field of health, hygiene and nursing care
  • Experience in humanitarian activities, particularly in the field of migration
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel;
  • Knowledge of the migration context a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of the broad range of migration-related areas addressed by the Organization; and,
  • Knowledge of United Nations and bilateral donor programming.
  • Knowledge of financial rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).

REQUIRED

  • Fluency in French (oral and written) is required; <insert required language/s>.
  • Knowledge/proficiency in English, Arabic, local and regional languages ​​is an advantage
