Hand in Hand for Aid and Development (HiHFAD) is a Non-Profit, Non-Governmental, Charitable Incorporated Organization registered in the United Kingdom and in Türkiye (TR: İyilik İçin El Ele Derneği) that provides high standards in humanitarian and relief services to the most vulnerable wherever needed through local engagement and global support.

Established in 2011 by a group of British-Syrian diaspora, HiHFAD was born out of a desire to extend a helping hand to vulnerable groups and displaced families in Syria and beyond. Since then, HiHFAD remained at the forefront of humanitarian agencies, providing life-saving aid to Syrians in hard-to-reach areas. Our extensive Healthcare Program has enabled us to expand and reach even more communities and internally displaced people; providing a comprehensive, integrated multi-sectoral intervention in Health, Nutrition, WaSH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), Protection, Shelter, Non-Food Assistance, Food Security, Livelihoods, and Education.

HiHFAD mandate is to alleviate the suffering of those in need without any type of discrimination, protect the most vulnerable, promoting social justice and welfare, and fostering durable solutions through delivering community-based humanitarian and development interventions.

Job overview

As part of the Program Department, the Health Coordinator supports the implementation and quality of health programs that are high-quality, evidence-based, impactful, and innovative.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Program Planning, Management, and Implementation

• Assist in developing operational plans for health programs, ensuring alignment with HIHFAD’s overall operational plan.

• Support the implementation of health program activities, ensuring they are well-grounded, interconnected, and aligned with the HIHFAD operational plan.

• Assist in the development of strategic plans and budgets for health projects.

• Monitor program and project spending, providing advice and variance reports in accordance with organizational processes and procedures.

• Conduct regular field visits to monitor health activities, ensuring alignment with and contribution to the country strategy.

• Ensure timely and quality submission of health program and project performance reports.

  • Representation, Donor Relations, and Partnerships Management

• Develop and maintain relationships with local partners and counterparts specific to health.

• Assist in developing program ideas into high-quality grant proposals for health programs.

• Collaborate with the Regional and HQ program and business development team to secure funding for health projects.

• Represent HIHFAD in relevant local health forums, events, and workshops.

  • Office Culture

• Promote and model a positive, professional, and respectful office culture within the health program team.

  • Staff management

• Line manage staff assigned to project/projects, including day-to-day management.

• Facilitate regular meetings with staff to ensure regular information sharing on project performance

• Provide coaching and supervision to staff (and partners), in coordination with Senior Project Manager and other departments

• Perform other tasks and duties as requested by the Health Manager.

  • Financial management

• Manage the budget for assigned project(s) and ensure all expenses are according to budget and meet HIHFAD and donor standards with regards to financial management and accountability.

• review spending and suggest course correction in the event of major underspending or overspending on Monthly Basis.

• Closely work with Finance department on weekly basis to address all correction processes related to the project’s activities

Background Knowledge & Experience

Education Level: University degree in a relevant field; ( faculty of medicine , Pharmacy )

Work Experience: Minimum three years of experience in project management preferably in emergency response/conflict settings;

Languages: English: C1 Arabic: C2 Turkish: A1

Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current issues and operating context in Turkey.

• Experience in health programming highly preferred.

• Knowledge and familiarity with donor regulations.

• Fluency in English and Turkish will be preference.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, tasks efficiently.

• Excellent time management skills and resourcefulness with strong attention to details.

• Excellent analytical and organizational skills, and ability to think critically and creatively.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience and diplomacy.

• Must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team.
