General Work Experience:
- 2-3 years of experience working in media-related roles within NGOs, public sector organisations, or similar entities.
- Experience working with the media, including managing press relations and public image.
- Demonstrated success in capturing and producing multimedia content (photography, videography).
Skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of media channels and practices in Gaza.
- Proficiency in media editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, etc).
- Creativity and close attention to detail.
- Ability to handle criticism and work under pressure.
- Strong teamwork and collaborative skills

The Media Officer will support Action for Humanity’s efforts in Gaza by documenting projects, events, and humanitarian work to raise the organisation’s visibility and ensure consistent and positive media coverage. The Media Officer will work closely with field teams to capture and share high-quality photographs, videos, and stories, and will liaise with national and international media outlets to promote AFH’s activities.
Objectives:
- Document AFH’s projects through high-quality visual and written content.
- Strengthen relationships with national and regional media outlets to promote AFH’s work.
- Enhance the visibility and reputation of AFH’s humanitarian activities in Gaza.
- Ensure alignment of all media-related activities with organisational goals and donor requirements.
Accountabilities:
Content Creation and Media Coordination:
- Capture and produce photos and videos from field visits, events, and AFH’s humanitarian efforts.
- Edit, enhance, and manage media files, ensuring they meet AFH’s standards.
- Work closely with program teams to develop content calendars, ensuring consistent updates on project activities.
- Liaise with regional media outlets to provide timely information and multimedia content for dissemination.
Media Relations:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international media.
- Respond to media inquiries and provide accurate information to stakeholders.
- Represent AFH at media events and serve as the key contact for media-related activities in Gaza.
Content Management and Dissemination:
- Regularly upload and manage digital content for the organisation’s media archives and social media platforms.
- Ensure that all content is aligned with AFH’s branding and messaging guidelines.
- Provide timely updates to the office manager on ongoing media activities, challenges, and opportunities for engagement.
Storytelling and Reporting:
- Write compelling human-interest stories, press releases, and media briefs to promote AFH’s impact on the ground.
- Coordinate with the Programs team to ensure media activities align with donor and project requirements.
- Support the development of reports by providing relevant media content for donor communications.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Monitor media coverage of AFH’s projects and provide regular updates on media performance.
Analyse media trends in Gaza to inform AFH’s media strategy.
