This is a 12-month regional mandate for Oxfam in Africa based in Senegal – Dakar.

The mandate is under the Equality in Action Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP), which takes place in 12 countries and 3 regions over an eight-year period (2020-2028). The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in developing countries in inclusive, innovative, and sustainable development initiatives that will advance gender equality. Oxfam’s role is to support these organizations, working with the most vulnerable and marginalized people, to claim and exercise their rights. Oxfam places the rights of women, girls, and vulnerable and marginalized people at the heart of everything we do.

Here’s what your daily life will look like:

INURU is Oxfam’s digital asset management system. INURU is the source of high-quality multimedia materials available to all Oxfam staff and for them to use when planning/preparing their public engagement activities (reports, papers, fundraising, media comms, etc). Resources included can also be shared with selected external contributors and partner organizations. INURU host quality curated content collections which includes audios, artwork, personal stories, photos and videos, all adhering to our set of global ethical content standards.

In close collaboration with the Oxfam content leads in Africa and Latin America (LAC), the Digital Assets Management Advisor will be responsible for:

• Support with uploading digital assets from Africa et Latin America into the content library called INURU ensuring assets have met quality and ethical standards. Assemble them into theme collections to be promoted.

• Enhance and organize the metadata by applying the provided template and guidelines. Tag photos according to specified criteria and edit collections to eliminate duplicates, repetitions, and substandard images.

• Support with 1 on 1 training of new uploaders in country teams. Take them through the different training materials and plan hands-on sessions with them to upload their first content collection;

• Contribute to future INURU development through flagging any system issues/bugs.

For this mandate you must:

• Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada;

• Have university or a master’s degree in communication, Information technology, digital media, graphic design, or a related field;

• Have 2 years of experience in a similar position;

• Acquire practical experience editing photo collections as well as digital assess management systems and metadata;

• Be fluent in English, spoken and written (required), Spanish and Arabic is a plus;

• Master the Microsoft Office suite.
