Overview of Position
Since 2019 IOM has been implementing a multi donor funded portfolio of Community Resilience and Peacebuilding (CRP) projects in Cabo Delgado. The CRP portfolio seeks to strengthen communities’ abilities to prevent & manage the negative effects of violent conflict & support processes that address the root causes of conflict. The portfolio currently supported by the Government of the United States of America is anchored in activities that seek to strengthen confidence between communities & authorities, promote dialogue as a means to identify sources of tension & advocate for solutions & prioritize investments in communities that provide income generation opportunities & promote community engagement.
Role Objectives
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensure the smooth & effective coordination with the district & community authorities.
- Ensure the community led engagements through coordination & collaboration with community people, community groups & other actors.
- Ensure the timely & transparent arrangements of activities under the IOM projects.
Expected output include but are not limited to:
- IOM has appropriate & effective coordination with the district & community authorities.
- IOM promotes community led engagements.
- IOM has transparent engagement with communities.
- IOMconducts activities without delays.
Project Reporting
The position will report to the CRP National Project Officer (NOA) based in Pemba with frequent travels to Palma & Mocimboa da Praia, in coordination with other Project Assistants, Clerks, Administrative Assistants & other IOM / CTG colleagues with secondary supervision by Program Officer & overall supervision by Program Manager.
Key Competencies
- Must be a high school certificate.
- Able to speak Portuguese & local languages in the district (either Palma or Mocimboa da Praia).
- Able to communicate with community members with transparency.
- Have knowledge of target communities including the history, culture & other social dynamic.
- Able to follow the workplan & manage activities in the field.
- Able to propose initiatives & creativity to promote community led activities.
- Minimum of 3 years of working experience.
- Experience in Palma or Mocimboa da Praia.
- Fluent in Portuguese & Makuhwa, Muwani, Makonde, Mwani, Swahili.
Team Management
- There is no supervision role for this position, the team management structure may be adjusted as required.
