Wars and armed conflicts come to an end; however, the remnants of war continue to impact millions of people for decades to follow. Mine Action and Disarmament’s vision is a world where people and communities are safe, resilient and protected before, during and after armed conflict. Together with national authorities and other stakeholders, we are working to resolve problems faced by local communities caused by Explosive Ordnance (EO). Currently, NPA has more than 20 Mine Action Programmes ongoing in Africa, Asia, Latin America, South East Europe and the Middle East.

Do you have experience in working with innovative and mine action products as well as project management? Do you want to become an integral member of the Global Advisor team in the Department for Mine Action and Disarmament, influencing the efficiency and effectiveness of NPA mine action operations? Location: Oslo, Norway

  • Salary per year for Advisors is between 481 882 to 625 511 (NOK) depending on your education and relevant experience.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in working with innovative and mine action products such as mine/UXO detectors, AUVs, AI/IM systems, etc.
  • Minimum 1 year experience from project management.
  • Technical knowledge of mines/EO and clearance techniques, including new developments.
  • Understanding in applying AI, GIS, and other digital technologies in mine action, with a strong ability to assess and implement technical innovations.
  • Knowledge of IMAS and the land release principles in a Humanitarian Mine Action programme.
  • Ability to develop, review and comply with security and technical SOP.
  • Written and verbal proficiency in English.
  • Experience in managing innovation projects with multiple stakeholders, including donors, governments, and other INGOs is an advantage.
  • Experience with support functions, including logistics, finance and human resources is an advantage.
  • Experience with GIS/Mapping is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Norwegian is an advantage, as the office language is Norwegian.

As a person, you are solution-oriented and very good at communicating both in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities:

  • Project manage the Innovation Norway project which includes drafting proposals and reports, financial management, and liaison with project donor and partners. It also include the planning and implementation of activities under the project.
  • Oversee the full project cycle for the Innovation Norway project, including MEAL activities.
  • Ensure the timely submission of financial reports, activity reports, and donor correspondence in compliance with donor requirements.
  • Develop and implement a MEAL framework for all innovation projects, ensuring that lessons learned are integrated into future planning and shared across the organization.
  • Collaborate closely with local stakeholders to ensure that innovation efforts are culturally appropriate, contextually relevant, and sustainable.
  • Receive invitations and hold meetings with any innovative partner or external stakeholder that is interested in Mine Action.
  • Support the drafting of SOP for innovative products resulting from innovation projects.
  • Attend the innovation conferences held by GICHD (and other sector relevant conferences or meetings).
  • Provide updates on innovation to programmes, linking innovation partners and country porgrammes where relevant.
