GENERAL CONTEXT
Médecins Sans Frontières is an international, independent medical-humanitarian organization that provides assistance to suffering populations, victims of natural or man-made disasters and victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, belief or political affiliation.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE AND JOB ENVIRONMENT
The position is located in the Strategic Collaborations Area, within the Fundraising department of Doctors Without Borders Spain.
The general objective of the position is to develop and strengthen the bond and relationship between the organization and a group of strategic partners (individuals and organizations), thereby increasing their commitment to MSF’s work and encouraging their financial support, which is key to developing the organization’s social mission, all through the representation and transmission of MSF’s core values. At the same time, work on the strategy of the Médecins Sans Frontières Foundations Program, ensuring its consolidation and growth. The position reports hierarchically to the person responsible for the Strategic Partnerships Service.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
- MSF External Relations and Representation
- Represent MSF at the national level before strategic individuals or entities, private institutions or other groups related to the Organization, selected for their economic capacity, their sphere of influence and/or their public image, in order to negotiate and close collaboration agreements. He/she will be responsible for a portfolio of approximately 200 collaborators, in relation to whom he/she will have to:
- Prioritise among potential collaborators identified by the Donor Research Technician, in order to establish a personalised and adapted strategy that allows the relationship to be initiated in order to establish links of interest with MSF that motivate future collaborations.
- Coordinate the organization of face-to-face and virtual meetings with individuals, company and foundation executives, current and potential collaborators, participating in said meetings and involving, whenever necessary, MSF staff, the Management Board and the Board of Directors, ensuring that the latter are informed of the specific objectives and, therefore, guaranteeing participation aligned with the strategy defined in the action plan.
- Identify tools to cultivate the relationship, build loyalty, and guarantee and increase donations from current strategic collaborators (visits to headquarters, attendance at exhibitions and/or events, breakfasts, visits to projects, etc.).
- Design and develop actions to cultivate relationships with current and potential donors, including overseeing collaboration proposals and customized communication materials, organizing thematic meetings with international staff and/or project connections, participating in face-to-face meetings such as talks with employees or corporate events, etc.
- Ensure proper monitoring and compliance with the commitments made by MSF, ensuring that quality, personalized accountability is provided to collaborators, through reports and graphic and/or audiovisual material, with the support of the Accountability and Impact Technician.
- Foundations Program Strategy
- With the head of the Strategic Collaborations Service, work on the strategy of the Foundations Program, ensuring its consolidation and growth. Define the annual action plan in collaboration with the rest of the Strategic Collaborations team. Prepare the budget and identify the resources necessary for the execution of the Program’s annual action plan.
- Evaluate, together with the person responsible for the Service, the strategy of the Program, as well as the viability of the annual action plans, their implementation and their results, adapting the strategy if necessary.
- Prepare annual income forecasts for the portfolio under his/her responsibility (economic objectives), carrying out subsequent revisions.
- People management
- Coordinate, together with the person in charge of the Strategic Collaborations Service, the activities of the Accountability and Impact Technician for the Foundations Program and her direct functions in the development of the annual action plan, emphasizing the appropriate prioritization of her workload with respect to the rest of the Programs within the Strategic Collaborations Service.
- Coordinate, together with the Head of Service, the activities of the Donor Research Technician linked to the annual action plan, including the analysis of the current database and possible external data, in order to obtain information that allows for the improvement of personalized strategies within the Program.
- Other responsibilities
- Participate, as a member of the team, in the design of the strategy, in the definition of the annual action plan and in the preparation of the annual income forecasts of the Strategic Collaborations Service.
- Actively participate in the International Fundraising Platform together with other Foundation Program Managers within the movement and in those relevant platforms at a national level, with the Foundation and Private Philanthropy Managers of other non-profit organizations.
- Participate, as a member of the Fundraising department, in the annual integrated campaigns, specifically, in the coordination of the intervention of people with a public profile and/or strategic collaborators.
SELECTION CRITERIA
- University degree (Social Sciences, Economics, Humanities, Communication, Public Relations, Marketing)
- Experience in representation, public relations, spokesperson or similar.
- Experience in project management and/or program development.
- MSF experience in projects (especially in coordination positions) will be highly valued.
- Knowledge of the cooperation and humanitarian aid sector.
- Knowledge of the social structure, networks and key players, as well as the business ecosystem in the Basque Country will be highly valued.
- Languages: excellent level of Spanish and very good level of English. Knowledge of Basque and/or French may be considered a plus.
- Computer knowledge: advanced Microsoft environment.
JOB CONDITIONS
- Position based in Spain in the MSF offices in Bilbao, Madrid or Barcelona.
- Permanent contract.
- Full-time.
- Gross annual salary: HQ/3B – €38,588, divided into 12 monthly installments, plus secondary benefits, based on MSF-OCBA Compensation Policy.
- Starting date: February 2025 (flexible).
