1.Background:

Gülümseme ve Zeytin Yardimlaşma ve Dayanişma Derneği GvZ (Basmeh and Zeitooneh) is a non-governmental, non-profit civil society organization that has been supporting the most marginalized, desperate, and affected people since 2014. From the beginning, GvZ believes that its role is to create ways to empower those affected by developing their skills and reviving their sense of humanity and dignity. Through its community centers, GvZ provides women, youth, and marginalized groups with various humanitarian services such as relief aid, protection, education programs, and communication with other humanitarian actors on advocating for essential issues to bring to light. To this end, GvZ strives to continue honing people’s skills to participate in peacebuilding and actively advocate for a democracy that reflects a diverse and socially connected society.

2. Job Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible for the operational management and implementation of this Long-term Action in Türkiye(Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Mardin). She/he will be reporting to the Civil Society Enablement Program Manager. She/he will be lead on the targeted organizations identification process and will be responsible for coordination with the targeted organizations to follow up on project progress. She/he will liaise with specialist trainers and prepare training schedules and provide regular coaching for targeted organizations on organizational matters.

3. Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operational management and implementation of the Action, ensuring activities are carried out efficiently and effectively.
  • Leading the process of identifying targeted organizations for the project, conducting assessments to determine eligibility and suitability for participation.
  • Establishing and maintaining communication channels with targeted organizations to facilitate project implementation, including regular meetings, updates, and feedback sessions.
  • Monitoring project progress in collaboration with targeted organizations, tracking milestones, outputs, and outcomes to ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines.
  • Collaborating with specialist trainers to design and deliver training sessions relevant to the needs of targeted organizations, coordinating schedules and logistics as necessary.
  • Developing training schedules in consultation with the CSE Program Manager and specialist trainers, ensuring that training activities are aligned with project goals and timelines.
  • Providing regular coaching and support to targeted organizations on organizational matters, especially during the sub-granting period, to enhance their capacity and effectiveness.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact with the donor, providing updates on project progress, addressing queries, and facilitating communication between the donor and project team.
  • Assisting in producing reports to be shared with the donor, including narrative reports, financial reports, and other documentation as required.
  • Identifying potential risks and challenges in project implementation and developing strategies to mitigate them, ensuring project activities are conducted in compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies.
  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations, legal requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Prepare and submit project reports, documentation, and updates as required by donors, partners, and organizational stakeholders.
  • Engaging with relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, local partners, and community representatives, to foster collaboration and support for project objectives.
  • Conducting periodic performance evaluations to assess progress against project goals and objectives, identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations for adjustments as needed.
  • Providing leadership and guidance to the project team to ensure effective collaboration and performance.

4. People Management:

  • Lead and supervise the project team by setting clear expectations, providing guidance, and fostering a positive work environment to ensure team cohesion and performance.

5. Education & Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as international development, project management, business administration, or a related area.
  • At least 3 years of experience in project management, preferably in the humanitarian or development sector.
  • Experience in leading and managing projects, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Experience in working with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), NGOs, or similar entities.
  • Good financial management skills, including budgeting, financial reporting, and donor compliance.
  • Experience in people management, including leading and supervising teams, providing coaching and support, and fostering a positive work culture.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Fluency in Turkish, Arabic and English.

  • Maintain financial discipline by managing project expenditures within budgetary constraints and minimizing cost overruns.
  • Foster positive relationships with stakeholders and measure satisfaction levels through feedback mechanisms, ensuring alignment with project objectives and expectations.
  • Assess the performance of the project team, provide support and guidance as needed, and promote professional development opportunities to enhance team effectiveness and cohesion.

  • Prove sound computer and cloud-based, soft collaborative skills (MO, Google Suite, Accounts Tracking and Management, and internet surfing); and
  • Prove sound research and relevant analytical skills.
