CONTEXT:
In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in eastern DRC, Handicap International wishes to strengthen and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid provided by humanitarian actors.

The worsening humanitarian context in these areas requires proactive and flexible intervention capacities to carry out a relevant and rapid response in terms of humanitarian aid.

Atlas Logistique wishes to relaunch its logistics activities in the East of the DRC to meet the needs of users (humanitarian community) through 4 main activities:

– Road transport covering all humanitarian hotspots in the East of the DRC, particularly the areas impacted by the M23 crisis,

– Free storage for cross-docking, contingency and pre-positioning of relief items for rapid response to sudden crises, integrating the implementation of medical logistics (Controlled Temperature and Cold Chain).

– Capacity building of local transporters, drivers and conveyors as well as staff of partner organizations on the mandate and humanitarian access, risks and security management of transport, constitution of administrative files, and cold chain.

– Civil engineering

YOUR MISSION:
As a Pharmacist, you will be under the management of the Atlas Logistique operations manager and in contact with the head office technical representative.

The main challenges of the position will be the launch of the pilot project on the cold chain in South Kivu, coordination with the actors on site, management of the project teams, ensuring the proper management of activities according to the planned schedule but also ensuring the quality of the activities to be implemented. You will also be in charge of developing the team’s skills and creating training for our beneficiaries.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Operationalization of the cold chain medicine drone transport project
  • Ensuring the technical quality of medical logistics projects
  • Establish and update the quality assurance system in the Goma and Bukavu warehouse
  • Communication and representation (pharmacy and cold chain subjects)
  • Reporting

YOUR PROFILE:

  • You hold a Doctorate in Pharmacy
  • You have at least 2 years of experience in an NGO in a Pharmacist position
  • You have experience in wholesale distribution of medical products and cold chain handling (vaccines, medical products, laboratory reagents)
  • You have proven experience in training on medical logistics topics
  • You have an excellent ability to formalize tools, procedures and document projects
  • You have good skills in negotiation, external representation and coordination and management of partnerships
  • You are fluent in French and English

  • 9-month International Contract ideally starting April 1, 2025, position based in Goma
  • The international contract provides social coverage adapted to everyone’s needs:
    • Unemployment insurance collected only for EU nationals;
    • Retirement insurance;
    • Health coverage, repatriation, and welfare covered by HI and the employee;
  • Salary : from €2,750 gross/month;
  • Per diem : €569 net/month – paid in local currency in the field;
  • Hardship: €250 net/month
  • Paid leave : 25 days per year;
  • R&R : 5 Days every 8 weeks
  • Position: Unaccompanied
  • Accommodation: Collective supported by HI;
  • If you are a resident in the country: local package.
