SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association that, for over 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs: drinking, eating, and shelter. Particularly committed to combating diseases linked to unsafe water, the world’s leading cause of death, SI implements through its interventions expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and the promotion of hygiene, but also in the essential field of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, SI’s teams – 3,200 people in total, made up of expatriates, national employees, permanent staff at headquarters, a few volunteers, etc. – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.
Job Description
The Internal Audit department is an evolving entity within the SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL headquarters. The primary mission of the department is to provide assurance to managers on how the structure protects itself from assessed risks by equipping itself with a well-thought-out, effective and formalized system for controlling its activity and to formulate recommendations to strengthen its effectiveness. This purpose is served by a wide range of expertise and responsibilities, guaranteed by the department’s independence.
Reporting to the Internal Audit Officer, the flying Internal Auditor will work, depending on the internal audits to which he/she will be deployed, in close collaboration with the Desk units depending on the Internal Audits to which he/she will be assigned and the corresponding operational teams.
The flying internal auditor will be required to travel to the countries where SI operates up to 60% of the time, excluding holidays.
Through 5 essential pillars of the position: internal audit, internal control, classification and archiving, risk management and prevention of abuse, he/she (non-exhaustive list):
- Actively participate in the definition and possible revisions of the organization’s annual internal audit plan (PAIA).
- Participate in the review of internal audit plans developed by field teams and support their deployment.
- Check the proper functioning of the Recommendation Monitoring tools and support the field and Desk teams in the use of the tool.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of internal audit department tools and policies.
- Evaluate the efficiency of internal controls by conducting internal audits and establish appropriate recommendations.
- Provide daily advice to Desks and Country teams in the implementation of internal control exercises (regular and random)
- Monitor the inclusion of upcoming external audits in the field’s internal audit plans.
- Ensure that any identified compliance issues are addressed by the relevant teams
- During field trips or via induction briefings, contribute to training field teams, at the base and in coordination, on archiving procedures.
- In some cases he/she may coordinate and support the implementation of Due Diligence exercises of local implementing partners.
- Support the deployment and/or updating of risk management tools in the field.
- Contribute to minimizing the risks of corruption, fraud, harassment or sexual exploitation by ensuring compliance with Solidarités’ internal standards and ethical guidelines.
- Actively promote the organization’s ethical guidelines and implement awareness-raising, training and capacity-building actions.
- In certain cases, he/she may participate in the processing of abuses and assume responsibility as an internal field investigator at the request of the Anti-Abuse Officer and in agreement with the Internal Audit Officer.
Specific issues and challenges:
- This position requires flexibility in deployments: some may be moved, modified depending on constraints and crises in the countries of intervention.
- A rapid ability to understand the issues and realities of the different countries of intervention.
- Position based at the headquarters of Solidarités International, in Clichy la Garenne (Mairie de Clichy metro station) with travel to the field
- Fixed-term contract, Executive status
- Gross monthly salary of: €3,183 to €3,316 (Level 6) depending on the scale in force at the head office and the candidates ‘ experience.
- Possibility of teleworking: 4 to 12 days per month or 100%TT from mainland France, in accordance with the Teleworking Charter in force and the manager.
- Leave: 2.0833 CP/month and 1 day of RTT/full month of work
- Mutual insurance (80%), meal vouchers (60%), Île de France transport tickets (50%) covered by the association
Insurance covered during field trips and 1 day of recovery per weekend spent on a mission.
Specific skills/experience required:
- Knowledge of internal audit methodologies and standards
- Experience in conducting internal audits
- Field experience within an NGO
- Appetite for risk analysis and organizational risk management processes
- Particular knowledge and sensitivity to ethical standards in the humanitarian sector and donor requirements in this area.
- Perfect command of French and English, both spoken and written.
- Adaptability and resistance to stress.
- Great sense of diplomacy
- Mastery of the office suite.
- Ability to work in a team, be a good teacher, conscientious and have good practical sense.
A plus:
- Previous experience within Solidarités International
- Mastery of administrative investigation techniques and management of risky behavior (safeguarding)
- Fluency in Arabic, Spanish or Portuguese would be an advantage.
Language: Excellent command of French and English, both written and spoken.
