Context
As part of the improvement of pharmaceutical services in health facilities, HPIC is implementing a project aimed at strengthening pharmaceutical inventory management, staff training and patient awareness on the use of medical products. We are looking for an experienced pharmacist to lead these essential activities.
Objectives
The recruited consultant will have the main mission of:
1. Assess the training and pharmaceutical management needs of the targeted facilities.
2. Design and implement training and modernization programs for pharmaceutical services.
Main activities
The pharmacist consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
1. Needs assessment
o Identify the training needs of pharmacists and health workers in the targeted facilities.
2. Training Design and Implementation
o Develop a training curriculum for pharmacists and health personnel.
o Organize and conduct a three-day training workshop for staff at both facilities.
o Train staff on the use of digital pharmaceutical inventory management systems.
3. Development of Procedures and Training Materials
o Create or update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for pharmaceutical inventory management.
o Develop an IEC (Information, Education, Communication) package on the distribution and use of medicines and medical products.
4. Mentoring and Capacity Building
o Establish a mentoring program to train junior staff on good pharmacy practices.
5. Patient Awareness
o Organize gender-sensitive educational sessions at all three facilities to inform patients on the appropriate use of medical products, including prescribed and over-the-counter medicines.
6. Pharmacy Modernization
o Develop a pharmacy modernization plan.
o Set up a digital pharmaceutical inventory management system in each establishment.
Qualifications and skills required
• Degree in pharmacy (minimum Bac+5) with significant experience in pharmaceutical management.
• Proven experience in training medical or pharmaceutical staff.
• Knowledge of digital pharmaceutical inventory management systems.
• Proficiency in writing procedures and developing training materials.
• Ability to mentor and build capacity.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Gender sensitivity and experience in multicultural environments.
Expected deliverables
• Training needs assessment report.
• Detailed training curriculum and associated materials.
• Updated SOPs for pharmaceutical inventory management.
• IEC package developed.
• Report on training workshops and mentoring program.
• Pharmacy modernization plan and digital management system operational.
