Based in Brussels and active in over a dozen countries, the European Institute of Peace (www.eip.org) is an independent organisation working collaboratively with the parties to the conflict, those who represent people suffering from insecurity or at risk of violence, as well as European decision-makers and the conflict prevention, resolution and mediation community.

We provide practical experience, technical expertise, and policy advice on conflict resolution. We use a variety of tools to help us do this, including analysis, mapping and design of peace processes and agreements, facilitating policy discussions, and proposing practical engagement, for example through inclusive dialogue and mediation support.

The Institute is seeking a Web Designer to design and build an open-access website which entails resources for peacebuilding practitioners in form of text documents and potentially graphics.
You will

  • Create and deliver an open-access website to house up to 200 resources, mainly of text documents (mainly written publications);
  • Ensure that the website features are user-friendly in intuitive in its navigation;
  • Ensure professional visual design aligned with the Institute’s official website and branding guidelines;
  • Engage with the project team and peacebuilding practitioners to ensure the website is optimized for peace practitioners use and needs;
  • Guide the project team in managing and maintaining the website, including steps to add future resourceses to the website;
  • Engage with the internal communications team to ensure the website’s design and functionalities align with the Institute’s broader online presence and media strategies, maintaining consistency across platforms;
  • Participate in regular meetings with the project team to provide updates on progress, gather feedback, and ensure the website development remains on track and responsive to project goals and resources.​

Your skills and experience

  • Proven experience in designing and building accessible and user-friendly websites tailored to specific user needs.
  • Strong skills in creating visually appealing and intuitive designs that enhance user experience and engagement.
  • Expertise in setting up and customizing websites that allow for easy content updates by non-technical users.
  • Ability to design systems that efficiently store and organize large volumes of resources for easy access and retrieval.
  • Experience in developing advanced search and filtering features to help users quickly find relevant information.
  • Ability to provide clear instructions and documentation to support the ongoing maintenance and updates of the website.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English to collaborate effectively with the project team and stakeholders.

What we are offering

Service contract from 01/03/2025 to 30/04/2025.
