ZOA is a Dutch humanitarian organisation that supports vulnerable people affected by violent conflict and natural disasters in fragile states, helping them to lead dignified and resilient lives.

ZOA operates in over 14 countries in difficult locations, where our field staff directly provide assistance to the most vulnerable victims of displacement. Countries where ZOA is present include Burundi, Colombia, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Iraq, Liberia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Uganda, Ukraine and Yemen.

In Colombia, ZOA’s head office is located in Riohacha, La Guajira. ZOA is implementing cash, food security, water, sanitation and hygiene projects in the departments of La Guajira, Atlántico, Antioquia, Arauca, Casanare, Cundinamarca, Nariño, Norte de Santander, Santander, Valle del Cauca.

Operations in Colombia began in 2019, focusing on food security and WASH interventions serving beneficiaries supported by institutional donors, UN donors, and ZOA’s private donor group.

Purpose of the position

The Distribution Assistant is responsible for the distribution of food kits at pre-selected distribution points. He or she will be part of a team responsible for ensuring effective distribution in a manner consistent with ZOA values ​​and practices. He or she is responsible for overseeing the identification and registration of beneficiaries, as well as the correct distribution of food. This person is the main link between ZOA and the target communities.

Responsibilities and Functions

  • Count and verify that the kits have the appropriate amount of food for daily distributions
  • Randomly check the correct content of food kits
  • Prepare the daily distribution sites and perform proper cleaning at the end.
  • Identification of beneficiaries according to established criteria
  • Registration and documentation of beneficiaries
  • Distribution of food kits including delivery records
  • Accurate and detailed reporting of distributions and assistance provided to the beneficiary during distributions to the Team Leader
  • Ensure that all products entrusted to ZOA that arrive at the food distribution point are duly accounted for
  • Record of quantities delivered, quantities lost in transit and quantities damaged if any
  • All observations should be recorded immediately.
  • Assist in loading and unloading food and materials at designated sites as needed
  • Ensure proper accounting of all quantities of commodities received and distributed at each distribution point
  • Maintain accurate monthly consolidated submission of all key project documents in the office
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor.

Skills and experience

Identity

  • The candidate is expected to support ZOA’s identity, vision and mission.
  • Affinity with emergency work and international NGOs.

Education

  • Primary or secondary education.

Knowledge / experience

  • Essential: 1 year in food distribution activities, preferably in the humanitarian or development sector

Technical Competencies

  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word).

Skills / Aptitudes

• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• Good planning and organizational skills.

• Service-oriented attitude, but strict when it comes to complying with ZOA policies and procedures.

Special working conditions

Santa Marta: The position is based in Santa Marta and is responsible for delivering kits to the following locations: Zona Bananera, Pueblo Viejo, Aracataca, Ciénaga, Santa Marta. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Additionally, availability to work some Sundays occasionally may be required.

Valledupar: The position is based in Valledupar and is responsible for delivering kits to the following locations: Pueblo Bello and Valledupar. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Additionally, availability to work some Sundays occasionally may be required.

Salary indication

A contract is contemplated for a specific job or task , initially for 1 month, with a salary based on the ZOA salary scale of 1,598,794. This salary may vary depending on the experience certified by the applicant.
