About The Role

The European Union and the United Nations agencies are part of Oxfam’s most important institutional donors. The partnership with these donors is coordinated through three “accounts”, with dedicated strategies and teams:

  1. Partnership with the European Commission’s (EC) Development departments (called ‘Directorates-General’ or ‘DGs’): INTPA/Mediterranean/FPI and other EU Agencies for domestic funding
  2. Partnership with the EU Humanitarian Directorate-General: ECHO
  3. Partnerships with the four main United Nations humanitarian agencies: WFP, UNCHR, OCHA and UNICEF

These three accounts are led by two Partnership Managers based in the Oxfam EU advocacy office in Brussels.

The EU Partnership Assistant will support both Partnership Managers (and the Institutional Funding team) in their overall objective to maximize financial support from the EC and the UN for Oxfam’s programs; influence their policies and practices to ensure stronger alignment with Oxfam’s work and priorities and improve the overall quality and efficiency of our partnership.

They will support both EU and ECHO/UN Partnership Managers in:

  • Donor monitoring & engagement: monitoring & sharing information on donor policies and partnership opportunities; coordinating Oxfam & partners’ meaningful participation to donor consultations and events; communicating to the donors about Oxfam’s programmes, campaigns, and advocacy
  • Fundraising coordination: monitoring & gathering intelligence about new fundraising opportunities; coordinating Oxfam’s internal processes to pre-position for and apply to funding opportunities; building internal capacity on donor funding requirements, processes and policies; producing & sharing analyses on the quality and quantity of Oxfam’s income & partnerships with the donors
  • Account management: strategic account (= partnership) planning and monitoring; logistics for account team meetings & activities; account knowledge management (information sharing, filing).

The EU Partnership Assistant will also perform administration tasks to support the overall functioning of the OI EU advocacy office.
