We are looking for a communication expert who can manage and implement the communication demands of our programmes related to energy, climate and sustainable development. The candidate should be well-organised, and capable of managing their own activities in close cooperation with the technical experts in the team.
- Developing communication strategies for specific programme(s) or events
- Writing articles, social media posts and other outreach in relation to climate change, energy, transport and sustainable development
- Develop communication materials in those sectors or on programme activities (brochures, flyers), in close cooperation with technical experts
- Organization of events or workshops in the region, including venue selection, communication with the participants and agenda setting together with technical experts
- Support to the preparation of the reporting to the donor (biannual project updates, annual technical reports) and other materials that highlight achievements
- Coordinate communication and outreach activities with both implementation and government partners in the region
- Compilation of information materials for media and partners
- Coordinate with communication officers for other programmes, the regional GIZ office as well as the Corporate Communication Unit in Germany
- Support the communication with project partners, including information collection and the management of deadlines
Qualifications
- University degree in Communication / PR or a discipline in a subject related to climate change, energy or transport, public management or (climate) economics
- Candidate must be a Citizen of St. Lucia or be allowed legally to work in this country.
- At least 4 years’ professional experience in the field of communication (media and PR work, journalism, internal communication, lobbying or similar)
- Previous work experience for or with development agencies or government is an asset
- Experience in event and project management, stakeholder coordination in a climate or development context; editorial experience, experience in writing articles and press releases
- Experience in developing communication strategies
- Experience in working on a sector related to climate change, sustainable infrastructure (energy, transport) and development is an asset
- Fluent English Level. German and Spanish are an asset
- Excellent organizational, advisory and management skills
- Ability to work in a multicultural team and with individual independence/ initiative
- Valid driver’s license or willingness to acquire one
- Willingness to work to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
