Overview of Position
- The Disarmament, Demobilization & Reintegration (DDR) program for Ethiopia was initiated as a crucial step towards implementing the peace agreement signed between the government of Ethiopia & the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) on the 2nd of November 2022 in South Africa.
- For the implementation of DDR in Ethiopia, the National Rehabilitation Commission (NRC) was established with the council of minister regulation number 525 / 2022 & with amended regulation number 541 / 2023 of the federal democratic republic of Ethiopia. The core mission of the commission is stabilization of the society & recovery of the economy for sustainable peace & enhancing human security through designing, planning & implementing the demobilization & sustainable reintegration of more than 370 thousand former combatants into civilian life across seven regions of Ethiopia.
- DDR is multi donor stakeholders finance the DDR program which is huge in terms of beneficiaries & expenditure. Under direct supervision of NRC Commissioner, the Partnerships & Resource Mobilization Senior Officer is responsible for planning, leading & coordination strategies, programs & projects for mobilizing resources for the success of DDR.
Role Objectives
- Develop & implement a comprehensive strategy for partnerships & resource mobilization, including identifying potential donors, partners & funding opportunities for DDR.
- Build & maintain strong relationships with existing & potential donors, including international & regional organizations, financial institutions, corporations & foundations.
- Prepare & submit funding proposals, reports & other documentation as required by donors & partners as per existing national DDR strategy.
- Coordinate with program & finance teams to ensure that funding proposals align with program goals & budgetary requirements.
- Monitor & analyze trends in the donor environment & adapt strategies accordingly.
- Organize & participate in networking events, conferences & meetings to promote the NRC & its programs.
- Ensure compliance with all donor requirements & maintain accurate records of all fundraising activities.
- Work with the communication team to develop materials that support fundraising & partnership development efforts.
- Provide regular updates to NRC on partnership, resource mobilization activities & progress.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Project Reporting
This role works under direct supervision of NRC Commissioner.
Key Competencies
- Graduate degree in international relations, development studies, business administration or a related field.
- At least 7 years (with a high school diploma) or 4 years (with a bachelor’s degree) of combined & relevant experience in fundraising, partnership development or resource mobilization, preferably in the non profit sector.
- Strong understanding of the donor landscape & experience in proposal writing & donor reporting.
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, with the ability to network & build relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical & planning skills.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities & meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office & familiarity with donor databases & CRM tools.
- Fluency in English & Amharic is required.
