Job Title: Senior Advisor to the President

Job location: Remote HQ

Reports to: President of the Board of Directors

Budgeted salary: $6,000 – 8,000 Monthly

JOB SUMMARY

This person is advisor, planner, strategist, emergency responder and liaison, acting as the Board President’s high-level assistant on issues ranging from logistics, events planning, fundraising, advocacy, media preparation, networking and representation. The position reports to the President while liaising closely with the Senior Executive Coordinator, the Executive Director and other senior executive leadership, as well as board members, donors and other external interlocutors. The ideal candidate will handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously, mixing long-term endeavors with the urgency of immediate demands. They must also have the demonstrated ability to deal with highly confidential information and act as a liaison between the Executive Director and the President, as well as the Board of Directors and other constituencies – both internal and external.

The successful candidate exhibits exceptional communications, social and managerial skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate to achieve actionable results, and the ability to build strong and sustainable relationships. They are highly resourceful, creative, solutions-oriented and able to perform multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Executes and ensures the follow-up of all initiatives as directed by the President
  • Strategic calendar management including planning and coordinating
  • Builds a network and liaises with multiple internal and external contacts
  • Drafts highly professional letters, messages, social media posts and emails
  • Drafts public statements and presentations for the President
  • Cultivates relationships to obtain high-level meetings for advocacy and fundraising purposes
  • Plans meetings and records meeting minutes, as necessary, ensuring execution of actionable items
  • Assists in the coordination of events and conferences at the President’s discretion for fundraising, advocacy and other purposes
  • Manages the administration and logistics associated with travel
  • Together with the Senior Executive Coordinator, ensures smooth coordinated and complementary activities and workflows between the President, other board members, the Executive Director and the executive team
  • May assist in the planning, coordination, minute-taking or follow up Board meetings and/or administrative support to Board members

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • High level of discretion; able to preserve confidentiality while maintaining productive working relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • Able to work under (extremely) tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Takes initiative to complete tasks and explore opportunities
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Excellent computer software skills related to, for example, presentations, publicity, managing multiple workflows etc
  • Demonstrated social media skills
  • Demonstrated ability for strategic and tactical thinking
  • 5+ years of senior administrative or EA experience
  • English fluency; Arabic, French, Spanish and other languages are an asset
