THE POSITION

The Financial Reporting Specialist supports the active and passive financial management of assigned Projects, taking care of reporting, financial control and monitoring compliance with procedures.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

Reporting:

  • Produces financial reports following Save the Children and donor rules in case of grant projects;
  • Collects and prepares all necessary documentation for financial reporting purposes;
  • Completes financial reporting formats for assigned grant projects;
  • Review and control financial reports prepared by project partners;

Other specific activities:

  • Supports the assigned area team in preparing annual planning and budget closing of assigned projects;
  • Verifies the implementation of the budget of the assigned projects, proposes any corrective actions in case of deviations from the budget or detection of financial risks;
  • Monitors the implementation of the budget of the assigned projects on a quarterly basis in order to prompt intervention in the event of deviations;
  • Supports the Programme managers and/or management referents of the assigned Projects in the economic-financial management of the project, in the budget implementation and in the financial planning and allocation of human resources;
  • Verifies the accuracy of project cost records through periodic checks on the accounting management system used by Save the Children;
  • Contributes to the control and support in the drafting of budget modification proposals and/or project amendments;
  • He is responsible for the management and periodic maintenance of the electronic and paper archive of the assigned grant projects;
  • Supports the line manager and the organizational area in the process of migrating projects to the new project management systems, within the CAPP project.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND LANGUAGE/IT SKILLS

  • 3 years of experience in financial monitoring and reporting. Previous experience in projects funded by the European Commission, FAMI and preferably United Nations agencies is considered a plus.
  • Administrative skills, knowledge of accounting and reporting principles
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Economics
  • Good knowledge of English, spoken and written
  • Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office package
